Ahmedov is held at bay by the right jab, as Nikulin spears it out and steps to the side when Ahmedov tries to close the distance. Nikulin flops in and leans against Ahmedov, tired. Combos to the body by Nikulin, short and sweet, then holding again. Ahmedov is trying to roughhouse and get into Nikulin's gearhouse but not getting many clean connections on him.

Round 6

Ahmedov is pushing a few jabs and not bothering to get his arms up to windmill inside anymore, nor hooking the body. Ahmedov is waiting on Nikulin and taking the right jab to the face, clapping down with two-fisted flurries when Nikulin steps in on him and mostly getting blocked until they tie up. Nikulin comes forward, pecking with his jab and then holding as Ahmedov starts spreading his arms to hack away. Jab and grab, all the way down the stretch. Ahmedov lands nothing in the final minute.

Round 7

Ahmedov is flailing and trying to grab Nuklin to pull him in close or slap him in the back of the head, but getting popped with right jabs and bruised up all around his eyes. The left one now has a nick about an inch wide of the corner of his lids. Nikulin is coiled and ready as Ahmedov bores in with slow lead rights, sidestepping and popping the right jab into the affected areas of Ahmedov's face sharply.

Round 8

Ahmedov is throwing lead rights to the body and winging his left arm up high to snake around Nikulin's throat and haul him into a bear hug. The ref is having to shout break every few seconds. Nikulin dances to his right and pops jabs until Ahmedov gets inside to clap at his ears with light arm punches and jam him up with wrestling. Break, break, break. Ahmedovdesperately slams his arms into Nikulin's body on the inside, but with no leverage. Solid left hand leads sprinkled in between jabs by Nikulin.
