Why - Malignaggi are around the same level now, Loosing there titles ( Malignaggi-Khan Zaveck-Berto ) They both have skill. Malignaggi has a fight verses Orlando Lora on the Hopkins-Dawson undercard. Thats not a good fight. Zaveck is. Malignaggi wanted Zaveck a few months ago, why not now ( well, no title ) but winner gets Viacheslav Senchenko for his title. Where - USA. Zaveck always speaks of wanting to become a USA star. He will get his chance again if he bears a well know fighter like Malignaggi. Plus Paulie has a fight in October. What are your opinions?
Hmm, i think Malignaggi could be a stylistic nightmare for Zaveck because of his jab and movement, but Jan is just so much stronger he would eventually find a way to get to him.
Paulie is always listed as a guy who is good to get your feet back, or trial in america, or stepping stone because he doesn't have any power. Cotto said- as they all suggest, that this fact makes people who fight him underestimate his total game because they think they can't get hurt. However, he is a tough kid and is game against every fighter so far that he has faced. The pressures on Zavek (first fight in america, coming off of a loss, the **** talk from malignaggi, the toughness of his opponent) I think only add to malignaggi's edge in this one. I've got Malignaggi by wide UD. Zavek is no Khan or Cotto.
BTW, SS - the winner of Zaveck vs. Malignaggi would not be next in line for Senchenko. Kell Brook and Rafael Jackiewicz have an eliminator coming up.
If Malinaggi can can take down Juan Diaz, size aside, he should have no problem with the less skilled Javeck. Javeck would spend all night with a glove in his face.
Malignaggi is not a threat to Zaveck. Nor do I think Golden Boy would risk Malignaggi against Zaveck, he's already a perfect opponent for Berto to destroy. That's the fight that makes the most money for Golden Boy and Haymon. If Zaveck's serious about fighting in the US, he should fight Randall Bailey next and make himself mandatory for Berto, that's the only way he gets a rematch.
He sure is serious to come back...still feel he need to prove himself he was overlooked by americans before.
I agree but Malignaggi doesn't have as much legs anymore either. If he wasn't a little used up, I'd say it was a tougher call.
