The guys Ortiz beat at 154 are better than the guys Zayas fought to win his belts. Let's hope that all the crap between Ortiz and fishnets doesn't put his career on hold and he and Zayas or him and Ennis fight next.
None of that really matters honestly. No one that Ortiz beat is better than Zayas. Zayas wouldn't be fighting his resume, he would be in the ring with Ortiz. And we've seen Ortiz is some questionable situations a few times in the ring. I like the match up. If the fight is actually made then I'll give a prediction.
That's just modern boxing look at the current welter champs rolly and barios are nothing but journeymen lucky to be fighting in the alphabet era titles mean nothing anymore
Symptomatic of a broader problem in the sport, Shakur has only just beaten his first A-grade name, and he is 29 in June. Tank is a 31-year-old who falls into the same bracket. Boxers don't take the best challengers available the vast majority of the time; they chase the money. Ortiz has beaten good enough names to be crowned a world champion, and he would likely beat Zayas and Josh Kelly. It's issues like this which drive people away in their droves, and I can't see it getting better anytime soon.
And Bohachuk beat Ortiz and he has 0 titles And Brandon Adams beat Bohachuk twice and has 0 titles. That's Boxing.
We have to remember Ortiz was on course to do big things before he went through the whole Covid/rhabdo issues, everyone thought he would run through that division and be on a collision course with the other elite prospect in Ennis. Ortiz has looked awesome since then and claimed some impressive scalps at the higher division.
How not? Madrimov went near 50/50 with Bud (I and lots of people had it a draw). What has Zayas done on that level?
Madrimov was no where near 50/50 with Bud. You and whoever else had it as a draw clearly lack knowledge of what was going on in the ring. You leaned heavy on your dislike for Crawford and the comments by the commentators. Please answer me, what rounds did you give to Madrimov..... The video was broken down so many times on multiple platforms. Anyone who actually saw the round to round break downs and still claims it was a close fight is someone willfully being ignorant or just doesn't like the victor.... Madrimov NEVER threw a single combination through the first 6 rounds. Not one, yet, they claimed that he was landing just as many punches as Crawford who clearly was completing 3 and 4 punch combos time and time again. So if you gave Madrimov a round early in the fight, you were giving him points for feints......which is weird. Yes, Madrimov had success throwing Crawford off rhythm with his awkwardness and feints. But at the end of the day, a feint is nothing more than flinching to make one think you are throwing a punch. Like pump faking a jump shot in basketball. But I've never seen anyone get 1, 2, or 3 points on the board for a pump fake.... When Madrimov finally decided to engage with Crawford, he got clipped. And it happened clearly 3x possibly 4. You can look at Madrimov's face in the post conference and see he was getting touched up. Crawford did get hit repeatedly with the leading right hand, but apparently it wasn't effective enough to make an adjustment because Crawford continued what he was doing leaving that opening there and countering off of it, even when he got hit. We can revisit it. Please, let me know what rounds you gave to Madrimov. I'm interested in knowing what you were seeing that made it close round to round.
15% of the blame on Ortiz because he kept getting sidelined with illness, ,10% on COVID, 75% (probably more) on Oscar for not getting him a title shot.
