Pathetic, Pavlik just fought their pointless mandatory how can they justify an 'interim'? He should relinquish the straps and just defend The Ring title.
I've just realised why they did this. They obviously budgeted for a sanctioning fee from the now defunct Pavlik v Mora fight so had to find another way to raise funds. They'll probably come up with something else now Pavlik has cancelled another fight.
I think the WBC is trying to establish a 2nd tier title in Europe. The NABF title is The North American Boxing Federation title, and often part of the path to mandatory status. I think they are trying to make the interim title its european counterpart.
