Zhāng Zhìlěi vs. Deontay Leshun Wilder

Ok Wilder is seriously mentally unwell. Now I'm hoping Zhang gives Wilder a taste of his own medicine.

282 lbs for Zhang, 214 lbs for Wilder

 

Zhang dropped almost ten pounds from the Parker fight. Smart decision. I think he'll knock Wilder out, but wouldn't be surprised if the opposite happened. Can't wait.

 

If Wilder put the same effort to train his legs as his upper body he'd be a solid 230 lbs.

It's baffling how his trainers have always let him get away with having paraplegic looking legs.

 

Good to see Zhang show up in better shape, he'll still probably gas if it goes late as he was lighter against Hrgovic but it won't hurt him to be quicker on his feet to try and catch Wilder before his gas tank empties.

 

Zhang comes in a bit lighter compared to his last fight against Parker. He needs to finish Wilder within 6 rounds, otherwise he's screwed.

 

It's honestly pretty comical how stick-like his legs look. Imagine if he actually did more leg work, he'd probably be an even harder puncher.

 

Yeah, he has all this power despite the stick legs. Everybody knows power in a punch starts from the legs on up.

 

A much better weight for Zhang, but I think he could have been even lighter, like 275.

My assessment remains the same. I favor Zhang in the first 4 rounds, but Wilder in the last 8 rounds.

Zhang is getting up there in age, and he can't sustain 12 rounds anymore. If he doesn't knock Wilder out early, he's going to slow down, get tired and then get knocked out himself.

He's still got power regardless of his weigh. Maybe he wants to come in light to gain some mobility, so he can get away from Zhang early. I think he should be around 220, so he improve his stability a bit.
