Tony Yoka actually wanted to fight Hrgovic, Andy Ruiz rarely gets in the ring, Luis Ortiz is 98 years old now, Agit Kabayel isn't that good. It is bothersome that Tony Parker and Joyce not stepping up though
Zhang vs Hrgovic will go to purse bids. Interesting that they couldn't agree a deal as both guys are co-promoted by Hearn. This content is protected
Best fighter either fought was maybe actually Jerry Forrest. And Mansour was about on par with Molina. Not brilliant from either man, but then you're surely aware of how many name opponents have blatantly ducked Hrgovic not just in the past month but in the past year as well. Normally I agree that a mandatory needs to earn their spot, but in this case Hrgovic vs Zhang is the best that's available. Neither Takam nor Wallin were on the list of possible opponents I believe.
Sometimes people who claim to be about that life ain't really about that life at all. But sometimes people who say they're about that life really mean it. Some people claim they want that smoke whilst running in the opposite direction from it. Whereas, conversely, others, myself included, run towards the smoke at breakneck speed. The point is you talk the talk but don't walk the walk vis-a-vis.
Both are Olympic medalists ... and despite their lack of pro victories, their amateur backgrounds make this interesting. Bottom line is if Hrgovic (or Zhang) wins this he's in a position to press for an IBF belt fight, and then we find out what he's made of one way or another. The modest pro resume isn't great, but if someone top 20 wanted to fight Hrgovic to take his IBF ranking they always could have stalked him yelling "Let's go champ" or something. Personally, I like the fact that a window is opening for someone new and likely formidable, rather than another recycled name past their prime.
