Zhang and Ruiz may be off the table for Fury

    Andy Ruiz's wife filed a domestic abuse charge against him in California earlier this month. As a result, he may not be allowed into the UK.

    Also, Zhang has said Joe Joyce has requested a rematch (and Joyce had a rematch clause in the contract), so Zhang may be on the hook for that, too.

    If Fury wants to fight this summer, before a December clash in Saudi with Usyk or Joshua, he probably needs to find someone else.

    Rankings are obviously meaningless, just get anyone, doesn't matter.

    As long as the opponent is well known, that's enough. It's not like fighters have to climb the rankings, facing tougher & tougher guys as they go.

    Well, here is the "interesting" bit. The WBC wants Fury to fight his mandatory challenger. They ordered #1 Wilder vs. #2 Ruiz. And it seemed like it was in the works, then all the Saudi talks started happening.

    Then it looked like Fury would go ahead and fight Ruiz, the #2 contender, which would likely fulfill his obligation with the WBC. But if Ruiz can't fight go, the next in line in the WBC ratings is ...

    #3 Joshua.

    So does the Saudi fight in December become Fury-Joshua (Fury's mando) and Usyk-Wilder?

    They will haggle for months, then Fury will pull out of negotiations and fight Charr or Chisora.

    Bakole is dangerous and he's about as sellable as Manuel Charr to casuals.

    It's Ruiz Jr or bust for Fury. He doesn't have Arum on his team for fun, they want to hold onto the American market.
