Zhang is the new Corrie Sanders

Sanders is like the modern day Earnie Shavers. Tons of fighters praised his accolades.

What a beast.

 

You know what fighter was really like Corrie Sanders? Roberto Cammarelle, the man who KOed Zhang. Really sucked he never turned pro. He was an absolute savage.

He beat Joshua in my opinion, and I'm not one of those people who think everyone Joshua fought in his Olympics run was robbed by him.

I'd favour Sanders (prime Sanders) over Zhang for the same reason I thought Zhang had a good chance against Joyce: the speed, accuracy and mobility edge are all with Sanders. Zhang hits hard for sure but I reckon Sanders would hit first and more.

 

I've been reading more and more people talk about his handspeed and I'm like, huh?

I didn't see any, I saw that Joyce absolutely refused to even guard against the left hand (to his own detriment), and that had him in hell. The angle at which he threw and landed it, was what Joyce's undoing was..............not speed IMO.

As for being the new Corrie Sanders, I wasn't very high on Sanders in the first place, and even with the win, I'm still not very high on Zhang but I think he's probably better than Sanders.

 

Don't be fooled by his lumbering body, Zhang's got fast hands for his size. It's not the strangest anomaly. Lots of fighters have had slow feet but inexplicably fast hands (look at Tua and Parker for instance) or been extremely fast and light on their feet but only a bit above average in handspeed (like Usyk, at least this current version).

Zhang's also really good at timing his left and giving you absolutely no tell on it. If you can't read when a fighter is going to throw a shot it makes it very difficult to avoid or brace for.

 

Yeah he definitely lost to Savon as well, but those are the only fights I can say are outright iffy. I've heard people say Joshua robbed Dychko and Zhang as well, which is clearly just AJ hate.

 

I've seen 4 fights with him thus far, I did actually gave credit to the angle at which he threw it. And yeah you're right, Joyce couldn't read it and instead tried to weather it (dumb move). The speed though, I dunno man just ain't seeing it.

 

Some similarities there.

But I think Zhang has a bit more going for him.

I think Zhang has an easier time in a rematch than Corrie would have had.

The Klitschko fight was a two round shoot out where whoever landed big first, wins.

In a rematch, I think Wlad takes the golf man a bit more seriously, and if Corrie fights the later version of Wlad , he is clinched and pot-shotted to a UD or late stoppage.



In a rematch between Joyce and Zhang, I can only see a very similar result again.
