I think this is Zhang’s moment and he is going to deliver a knockout. Congratulations on your 300 @Rumsfeld This content is protected
This will be Zhang's second fight (Joyce rematch was the first) with a new, experienced strength & conditioning coach who trained Daniel Jacobs. I think his conditioning may surprise some people in this fight
Gotta love Parker’s confidence. He has put together an impressive string of victories since the Joyce loss. Zhang maybe too much of a hill to overcome though. Looking forward to a great fight.
I have always liked Parker and it was nice to see him get a signature win against Wilder after failing to live up to the potential I thought he had. If the Parker that fought Wilder fought AJ some years ago, I think he beats AJ. However, I find it difficult to go against Zhang right now. You can make a case for Zhang being a top 3 HW in todays HW landscape.
This should be the main fight of the evening, a very good fight, I favor Zhang but Parker is a tricky fighter, he moves great and dodges punches well, if he doesn't allow Zhang to threaten more seriously then he might even win.
Parker is not a pressure fighter. He has a low output and needs to rest in his fights. If Zhang can put some pressure on him he will crumble.
This fight could go either way. Zhang is definitely very dangerous and I'm not sure Lee can come up with the right game plan to beat him. He had Parker going right at Joyce which was a mistake and he'll probably have Parker do the same vs the counter puncher Zhang which again would be a mistake as that seems to be the style Lee is teaching Parker. While I do think Parker can win, he can't do what he did vs Joyce and just expect Zhang to fade like he has in the past because he might not make it to the 2nd half if he tries to press Zhang early. I'm not confident of who will win as it will depend on what strategy Parker executes and how Zhang deals with Parkers speed and head movement. Hrgovic and Joyce are both easy to hit, he will likely find Parker much harder to land cleanly on and that's maybe where Parker can do what Joyce failed to do and take Zhang late and that's where Parker can rack up rounds and win a decision. So I'm torn, Zhang I feel is stylistically more likely to win, but Parker is far more proven at a higher level and presents problems Zhang so far hasn't had to face as a pro. It's easy to be a big puncher when you can find your opponents chin easily much harder when that chin is elusive as the Parker/Wilder fight showed. I keep flip flopping between the two, right now it's a 50/50 fight. I want to see Parker's weigh in weight, that will give me an idea what their plan will be. If it's north on 250 then Zhang via KO, below 250 then Parker on points in a close fight.
I maybe one of the few favoring and hoping Parker to win this one. Parker is currently the one elite fighter who has fought or will be fighting so many big names - Joshua, Ruiz, Whyte, Wilder, Joyce and Zhang. Zhang is good, and it is always refreshing to watch a heavyweight from a new country (China) rising among the ranks. But at 40, I don't see too bright a future for him.
Great analysis from the relatively new app called Rummys Corner. Parker will disappear under the Great Wall of China. Zhang by ko.
Given that Joyce beat Parker so decisively and lost so decisively to Zhang, it would be fascinating if Parker prevailed; a true validation that styles matter. Joyce just couldn't seem to deal with Zhang's southpaw style.
