Who would take this slugfest? I think Zhang is the better fighter and completely wrong for Makhmudov with his accurate left hand...
Probably the big Chinaman. Makhmudov seems very crude. He's about 7 foot but fights like a 5'10 brawler. Young Fury was similar at the start of his career and improved massively though so there's hope yet.
Zhang has the gas for not even half a fight. He performed very questionably against Jerry Forrest. So I'd give the chance to Arslanbek, not via TKO/KO.
Mak has a punchers chance he does hit awfully hard but based on what we've seen Zhang has to be the favourite. Zhang's more proven having narrowly lost to Hrgovic and beating Joyce who stopped a Takam than Mak struggled badly with. While triangle theories don't work, Zhang is just sneakier, just as big, faster hands and Mak's aggression will get punished by counters much like Joyce was. Mak's only chance is if he can hurt Zhang or survives long enough to take it late but I don't see that happening. Mak makes Hrgovic look like Usyk in comparison in terms of boxing skill and if Zhang hurts him and pushes him back Mak will be next to useless as he's only good when moving forward throwing that big right hand. On the back foot he'll be disarmed much like Wilder is when he can't plant his feet to throw.
Zhang more proven at this stage and arguably lost a very tight fight against Hrgovic, I would have given Zhang the win. Both can crack equally well. Zhang more polished/technical/battle tests, so I favour him today. Takam caused Mak many issues.
Mak has more punch variety. Zhang is a slow starter and relies almost exclusively on his right jab and left cross combo. I have seen more selection and power in both hands from Mak but much less refinement. If they fought it would be an UGLY brawl
I'd love to see this fight, IMO Zhang and Makhmudov are top 3 biggest heavyweight punchers alongside Wilder right now. If Makhmudov fights like he did yesterday, I see Zhang countering him and taking him out early. Zhang is definitely the more technical, sharper fighter with faster hands. But if Zhang doesn't get the early KO he could get tired out by Makhmudov's mauling style on the inside. Will be interesting to see how their chins hold up cause they've never faced someone with as much power as the other.
Takam is a decent win. He struggled, but Takam was beating Joyce 6-0 and wasn't dropped or being hit when he was stopped.
joyce was laffing at takam he wasnt interested in winning rounds it was a good stoppage as takam was all over shop taking clean punches and joyce was about to come in with more clean punches
I'll put my money on the Mak Man, but he'll need to fight a lot better than his most recent fight or he's getting slept by Big Mountain Zhang.
Precision punches vs pure beastitude. That's be a great fight, Makh can't be all out reckless in the first half, because Zhang can block and counter. At the same time he could wear out Zhang with roughhouse tactics, elbow pushes, grappling, etc. That's be one heck of an entertaining fight. On skill alone, have to favor Zheng but there are other variables.
