Zhang is like the level of Foreman version two. He can knock anybody out if he can catch them. As time goes forward that will become less and less likely. And he'll get ducked like crazy. Joe was ill advised to fight him a second time if he wasn't fully confident. He wasn't.
Zhang's IQ is really difficult for me to rate, as his level of opposition has been dreadful. Yes, even Parker & Joyce, they're just not very skilled at all. Zhang is extremely basic, although as has been mentioned, his hand speed & timing aren't too shabby, and he has excellent power.
He was able to asses: Opponent leads with face, opponent has a very punchable face, punch opponent in face until opponent fall down.
Really ? I,m not advocating its great , but dreadful ? We have with fury a fighter who achieved any belt in the division in +30 hw fights .We have with wilder one of the hardest hitter ever seen . We have with usyk a man with superb skills . We have with zhang , hrgovic etc a strong undercard level . We have set course to an unification fight not seen in the previous era . Think positive !
I do think positive but am a realist. Today's HW scene is indeed dreadful in all ways, from skills & ability to schedules & frequency of fights.
I'm not trying to be pessimistic, just calling it like I see it. There is still some good stuff going on in the lighter divisions!
I'm very impressed by how relaxed Zhang looks in the ring given how long he waited to step up competition levels. That's a huge part of his perceived high IQ IMO. He's composed and patient.
5/10, I haven't really seen "IQ" from him yet. He didn't do really anything that hasn't been done against Joyce "other than win" and be southpaw. Other fighters have also tee'd off on Joyce, they just didn't have the same effect as Zhang. And why do you guys keep saying he's "fast"? No he isn't. I mean yea against Joyce he looks like Wally West but that don't make him fast. And in no fight can I point to and go.............."damn Zhang is fast".
