    Try watching boxing.

Perfect example of someone who doesn't watch fights, ty for posting that. This guy probably looked at pictures of Frazier to reach his conclusion and we know the camera lies depending on exactly when the photo is snapped.

Try not being a sports forum wise aleck. I've seen tons of HW fights. Most top 2000s HWs would demolish those from decades ago. Now don't cherry pick, do a fair, unbiased analysis. Try actually using some common sense. Do you know why they have weight divisions? Athletes have been getting bigger, stronger, and even faster in most sports. Since HW is unlimited, it's silly to say the HWs of fifty or more years ago were equal or better than recent to current HWs. The pool of HWs has also greatly expanded from decades ago. Look at the top big men that came from Eastern Europe shortly after the Soviet Union broke up. Also top African (not from the US) HWs started emerging. When did we see a big Chinese guy having success as a HW way back then? Or any East Asian HW?

You, on the other hand, are clearly infected by the generally smaller HWs of the past. I agree w/you, for most it has nothing to do with nostalgia. Generations ago HW boxing was dominated by the US, a fairly small slice of the world pop. Then for a long time by a minority within the US. That's very narrow. Currently it's much more diverse. So what are your real reasons for favoring the small HWs of the old days? Just like you know me - I also know YOU.

He could easily have made 190 were that a division then. 190 in the ring, not melting down.

I responded with the level of respect you deserved.

Anyway, you're stating your opinion as fact, then asking for my fair, unbiased analysis? No thanks, I'll pass on that one lol.

The bottom line is, I think fighters from the past were just plain better & the size difference would be negated by this. You think they get destroyed. Ok, no prob, what can I say? It's my opinion, I don't claim certainty.

As for your last sentence, you're a weird dude.

I'm surprised your comment got any likes especially considering Fraizer never even fought Norton......

Why on earth would you conclude I do not watch boxing?
I've watched tons of bouts, including of course the Ali-Frazier bouts, + the FOTC I linked.

I thought later that I should have included something akin to a winking emjoi, so you knew for sure I was not being denigrating when I jestingly asked if you were druggin' up in thinking Frazier was chubby at 205. :baloon:

Is that why you seem disdainful, such as replying to me, but talking
    This content is protected
me instead of talking to me with civility?
I was not being mean; but I cannot see how anyone could see Frazier at that weight as remotely fat.

It also does not make sense to say I likely looked at photos of Frazier---> When I clearly referred to & LINKED the whole of the FOTC!

Now there is some truth that the camera can mislead...But besides linking the whole FIGHT, I referred to him in the several ways: including in the introductions, in motion, & when guys tend to look fatter, when slumped on their stool!

So you had every reason NOT to assume I only saw a or some still photos.

Feel free to show me, & us, any indication Frazier was overweight when
    This content is protected
    205 lbs.
He weighed 209 lbs. for Foster, although that scale may have been marginally cooked to make Foster look heavier...

Fact is Frazier was virtually precisely the level of muscularity as someone like Earnie Shavers!
Why? The equivalent proportions of height weight: Shavers just
    This content is protected
more of each peak for peak.
    Without Frazier having more bodyfat.

You do not notice it because their muscle proportionas are distributed differently: Frazier like many swarmers having more below the waist/butt/legs (where the average man has 60% of muscle anyway...)
And it should be clear that at an average height Smokin' Joe was no more than @ 15% bodyfat when young OR at his peak.

He is not a bodybuilder trying to cut down.
But if you do the math, if he was @ 6'6" he would weigh 240 or so without being overweight.
If I do a poll re: whether 205 lb./FOTC 205.5 lb. Frazier was "chubby"...
I'll make you a bet that definitely over 80%, likely 90 something % of folks (with any decent sample size) will clearly see he was not at all overweight at that weight.

Joe Joyce juggernaut goes from hero to zero in a few days. That is the casual voice, marketing, perception, but not the truth. Joe's head does not move, he is slow, he relies on a granite chin as his defence, but the southpaw left has a habit of landing on the orthodox fighter, and Zhang is a skilled and powerful heavyweight. If Joyce's eye didn't have a problem he may have started having success as Zhang tired, but taking that much punishment from big punching HWs is not an ideal approach to a boxing career.
