Zhanibek Alimkhanuly is a 23 year old Middleweight and the 2013 AIBA and Asian Amateur Boxing Championships Gold Medalist at Middleweight. Born in Zhylandy located in the Altay Region of Kazakhstan. Even though he was KO'd by Ievgen Khytrov (who hits real hard)in the Amateurs and that's nothing to be ashamed of and he was and still is young, but he bounced back to get a points wins over the very talented Jason Quigley at the AIBA. While not officially a pro yet, fighting in the AIBA and WSB isn't quite amateur either, he's fighting without headgear, so I and many others consider those competitions as semi pro. He's got a lot of skill has a good left jab, fights well off the back foot, counters well, has a good quick uppercut, good inside fighter as well, so he's fairly well rounded, he does need to work on his defense though. While he's not quite a pro yet its probably only a matter of time so get acquainted with young Zhanibek we may be seeing a lot of this handsome Krafty Kazakh.:deal::deal::deal::deal:

This kid is the truth....if he gets over his stamina issues otherwise i fear he will be another Korobov. Kid's got great skills and movements, not to mention some power too!

Shame though, Kazakhstan had far better lefties in Sapiev and Sareskbayev but they never went pro.

Yeah, I was very impressed with him and Daniyar Yeleussinov. My only question is, will they even turn professional after the olympics?
It will be a shame if they don't, they could be a problem. Daniyar at 154 (maybe 147?) and Zhanibek at 160-168. They are also pretty young.

I love alimkhanuly, he would make a great pro and is a massive middleweight. One a positive irish note Michael O'Reilly beat him at the world championships, Ireland for some reason produce an insane amount of top quality middleweights in the ams

Andy Lee, Darren Sutherland, Darren O'Neill, Conrad Cummings, Jason Quigley, Michael O'Reilly

Holy ****. Awesome. Who did he sign with? I expected him to stay amateur for another Olympic cycle but great news.
