We don't need this kind of filth on the forum. Someone had better inform Achilles the moderator.

I've been thinking about this seriously :)yikes), and I really think Fritzie would be tough enough and rough enough to go a complete 15 with Duran at either LW or WW. However, it wouldn't get that far.

    Zivic:!: WDQ 11 Duran:(

    Duo,
Fritzie literally wrote the book on dirty tactics.Really.It was entitled "Ya gotta fight dirty",man I wish I could find that book. He was known for dirty tactics but in all seriousness he was also a very good boxer.Tough, good combos, good speed, good chin etc.Not a top ten Welter but a top 20 to be sure.Fritzie could give anyone problems. The only thing he lacked was power.Duran on the other hand had overall better boxing skills but seemingly left his K.O. punch at Lightweight. There would be no K.O. in this bout. Both Men would be an absoulute mess if it went 15rds.I think the Ref gets fed up and DQs both of them after 8.And if you guys think thats obscene watch it or I'll step on your feet and Elbow youse in the Mouth. Thanks

My point exactly. He was so good at it that he was never disqualified. Generally, it's not the instigator that gets penalized, but the retaliator.

Duran had a temper. The Viruet boys did their best to anger him so much that he'd get himself disqualified. Good ol' Fritzie would succeed where the Viruets failed. He'd get under Duran's skin with his nasty tactics, and make Roberto do something really stupid. (The big difference between Zivic and Buchanan, is that Fritzie would have gotten Duran disqualified for that low blow.)

Now, can we abandon this feculent thread before some widdle, liddle kiddie peeks in here, and gets us both banned for this foul conversation?

    Fritzie Zivic was a gentleman.

He fought in an era where fouling was the social norm and got a reputation through doing it better than his peers. Much of his fouling was retaliatory. If an oponent fought clean with him he went easy on them. If they fouled him then god help them.

He was not just a dirty fighter. He was perhaps one of the most inteligent fighters that ever lived and always found a way to frustrate his opponents.

Fritzie was a gentleman, in part because he delivered himself of any non-gentlemanly behavior in the ring. (Just like Dempsey.)

Obviously, he dethroned Armstrong, beat him cleanly and decisively in a rematch, and competed on even terms with the best near his weight during his peak. He was also inducted into the IBHOF at a suitably early time in it's history. (Now, can we PLEASE get out of here before someone thinks of starting a thread on Wepner/Galento?)

Such a thread would be insulting to Galento.
