There is a purse bid scheduled for Friday to determine the promoter for the fight between Golden Boy-promoted lightweight titleholder Jorge Linares (40-3, 27 KOs), who will be making his third defense, and mandatory challenger Dejan Zlaticanin (21-0, 14 KOs), who is promoted by Lou DiBella. Gomez and DiBella told ESPN.com that they are talking and hope to make a deal. Gomez said he is also talking to HBO in the hopes of securing a date for what figures to be a very good fight between aggressive, crowd-pleasers. Linares' 10th-round knockout of Kevin Mitchell in England in May was a sensational fight of the year candidate. Zlaticanin was very impressive in his last fight, which was in June, when he bombed out Ivan Redkach in a fourth-round knockout victory for an upset to become the mandatory challenger.
