Four bouts to be televised, per the BoxNation website's schedule. Kevin Satchell vs. Walter Rojas, 10 rounds @ flyweight Liam Smith vs. Robert Talarek, 10 rounds @ super welterweight Jazza ****ens vs. Josh Wale, 12 rounds @ super bantamweight Zolani Tete vs. Paul Butler, 12 rounds @ super flyweight Walter Rojas is a late sub for Luke Wilton, originally supposed to meet Satchell in a rematch. Neither of Satchell's titles (Commonwealth or Euro) will be on the line anymore; this contest has been demoted to a 10-rounder and pushed further down the bill.
Jack Catterall vs. Cesar David Inalef at light welterweight is scheduled for twelve and for a vacant WBO bauble, so it nominally outranks a couple of the featured bouts on paper, but there is no word of it being televised on the BN site. Nor of Derry Matthews vs. Gyorgy Mizsei Jr., scheduled for eight, also light welterweight.
Anybody think dropping back down in weight might harm Butler? :think It has been since December of 2013 last time he made super fly, less than a month after his twenty-fifth birthday.
Round 1 Talarek is circling and trading jabs with the smaller yet - for lack of a better word - beefier Smith. Talarek's are quick and sinuous, roped out from a guard that is constantly traversing up and down the elevator, lots of jittery nervous movement as they circle at close range. Smith is holding a more rigid guard, higher up, elbows at nipples, stabbing at Talarek with quick single lefts and then doubling them up or putting a short right hand behind them when Talarek counters. Grazing overhand right by Smith as Talarek leans back and shields himself with both arms. 10-9 Smith, not much in there, main difference being Smith actually used both of his fists.
Round 2 Talarek is reacting to Smith's kneeling-in body feints, hopping side to side. Creeping in, using lots of fake-out moves and misdirection, Smith continues to stalk in and surprise Talarek with quick unexpected jabs after feigning movement in another direction. Talarek is dropping jabs on the belt line from outside, hoping to push Smith out beyond range. 1-2 by Smith, tagging up both eye sockets as Talarek d****s himself over the highest rope. Flicking backhanded double jab by Smith into the now reddened face of Talarek. Smith ducks a short hook and flips his left forearm up into Talarek's chest to push him back into firing range. 10-9 Smith 20-18 Smith
