I was impressed when I looked at his record on boxrec: he beat: Wayne Bethea X2 This content is protected Eddie Machen Doug Jones This content is protected Gerhard Zach Oscar Bonavena Brian London and Al Jones, :good I think he may have been winning the Ali fight before the knockdown/out
...Please don't count Bob Foster. Too soon...hurts too much...Excuse me, I've got something in my eye...it'sjustdust.
what? :huh Bob foster is really one of the better of his opponents on his resume. Folley kind of reminds me of Adamek.
This is your second avatar that made me think : what did he have in his underwear : hernia ? socks ? and don't tell me it's a package as i've seen some of the biggest packages the industry can offer. I've seen Amee Donovan wrecked (really not sure) , and none of them packages was so massive .
I know, I'm a big Foster fan. I don't like to be reminded of him getting trounced by lesser fighters (no offense to Folley) when he kept trying at heavy. I was only kidding anyway. ... ... ...Sort of. :|:|
As has been pointed out, he also defeated Chuvalo, Cleroux, and DeJohn, and also Nino Valdes. However, he did not defeat Cooper twice. He lost to him the first time, but reversed it by ko in a rematch. He never defeated the ordinary London at all, losing to him. He never defeated Al Jones--they fought a draw. Bethea was a fringe contender. Zech nothing special even in Europe. Bonavena very green--Folley beat him in Oscar's ninth pro fight, but lost to him when Oscar had more fights under his belt. Doug Jones ko'd him in a rematch. Foster was a lightheavy who beat no one of stature at heavyweight. Folley was a good fighter for a long time, a capable technician who consistently beat the second-tier guys. His only win over a top man was Machen, but Eddie also failed every time against champions, Ingo, Liston, Patterson. Folley also failed against the better men.
Well yeah. I wasn't call him an atg or anything. but he's definetly better then someone like norton or lyle.
I'll second that!! :good - Folley was a respectable boxer - but come on??!! He was no Norton (and Norton was really an overacheiver!! - he was a completely unknown club fighter going into the first Ali fight - people seem to forget that too??) Brian London was mention as a good opponent aswell - I'm sorry but that guy was a flat out bum!! Lets get back to reality here No being serious its nice of you to big up Folley (as I say he was a respected boxer) - by all accounts a very well liked man and respected by all his peers - certainly I've listened to interviews with Henry Cooper where he spoke very higly of him - and you can tell after Ali stops him Muhammad takes a very touching moment of timeout with him - obviously a good guy so yeah big up Zora :good
