Zora Folley vs Jerry Quarry, both in their primes. Could Zora easily outbox Jerry? Could Quarry kayo Folley?

Both of those are possible although I'd give Quarry the slight edge.

Close one. You could easily have them fight twice and end up w/ two different results. In fight I would look for Folley to outpunch Jerry in many great exchanges, Jerry tiring out early, going for broke late, but not getting the decision. Folley outboxes him bad. In 2, Jerry drops Folley, showing improved stamina and winning an MD. The fights wouldn't be amazing, but I would love to see them. Quarry would make them great fights.

But Zora loses that one, he doesn't win! Oh no, Richard!

I give both men a good chance but I might slightly lean towards Folley. Reason being is because While Jerry dealt well with punchers, he often had trouble with Good boxers. I might be able to see Folley sneaking out a close points win.

Also, Folley was probably slightly better in most areas. He was more experienced, he beat a wider variety of fighters, and I think was probably faster and a better counterpuncher. The only three areas where I have Quarry better than Folley are: strength, chin, and mobility. But like I've said, both are close in their qualities. Both are some of the best heavyweight counterpunchers ever, so this would be a promising bout.

the fact that they’d probably wait for the other to throw so that they could counter might make this a slower paced fight

Yeah, I think it would be overall a bit of a slower fight, but the exchanges that would take place would be real dandies.

I slightly favour Folley. I think he was a really good counterpuncher, smart, good technique and awkward to fight. I read also once, that Patterson avoided a title fight against Folley. Folley was also ranked as one of the top HW contenders, for many years.
