3 Olympic medals (2 Gold, 1 Bronze), 4 World Championship medals (3 Gold, 1 Silver), and a bundle of medals from other championships too.

He was seen for a considerable period of time to be a top 3 p4p amateur, and at one stage seemed almost unbeatable in his weight class.
He's a very good fighter, but he's slipped somewhat with age and is not the fighter of 5 years ago.
But considering his amateur achievements, the push boxing is getting in China now, and the fact he's the real star of the sport over there....well that's why there's been such a big deal over it.

Probably good for the sport overall to have a big interest in China, so nothing wrong with him as the figurehead of that.

He was impressive in 2008 as opposed to 2012. Beat Paddy Barnes 15-0 in 2008 semi but only beat him on countback 15-15 in 2012 at the same stage. I agree the second gold medal has an asterix beside it, could/should have lost the final too.

He is obviously being used as an angle into the Chinese market and his pro career will be set up by Arum and co, but he was a very good amateur all the same, in fairness.

Heard his second gold isn't even legit got awarded many close dec.Don't have nothing against the guy but only place he's making that much ridiculous $ is in china,He should have turned pro after 2008,for some reason I don't see him lasting that long.Maybe it's his age he's not getting any younger & he's barely making his pro debut.Just keep him away from roman Gonzalez in the near future,if he makes it that far. That guy ruins careers.

IB, damn you're being harsh on old Zou lol. I'm looking forward to seeing his pro debut. I haven't seen too much of him because I barely watch the corrupt as Olympics as it is. So I'm interested in seeing his fast track career.

I don't know how I feel about this guy. I hate the hype but I also hate those who are hating on him for getting paid good money. Kinda want him to prove them wrong but at the same time I want to see Arum's hype train get derailed.

Magdaleno looks to have a wide torso, very thick. Big target for Rocky's body punches.

For what its worth Tommy Seran weighed in something like 4lbs lighter than Melindo? Miscommunication perhaps?

Valezuala- 111+ pounds (forgot the decimal). He looks, uh, young and unfilled. Hope he wasn't paid off.

Shiming- 111 pounds even and a smile.

The Venetian backdrop at the weigh in advertises the event as both:

    "World Flyweight Championship:
    Viloria vs. Estrada
    Starring Zou Shiming"

    "World Superfeatherweight Championship:
    Martinez vs. Magdaleno
    Starring Zou Shiming"

    Hmmm... Cash ploy, anyone?

Shiming's opponent looks terrible. Its at 112 as well, thought it was 108.
