On the undercard, Zoltán "Furioso" Csala just knocked out Zoltán "Csepi" Petranyi in three.

This is particularly embarrassing for Petranyi, as he is a) the event promoter & matchmaker, b) has nearly 15x the professional experience of the now 6-0 (5) Csala and c) was riding a seven year, fifteen-match undefeated streak making his eighth defense in his 2nd reign of the Hungarian national heavyweight title, and d) is actually in reasonable shape unlike the lumpy, face-tattooed Csala.

In his defense, however, Petranyi is 48 years old. (though Csala is 37 himself)

 

It wasn't all that impressive a stoppage (or showing by either man) - Csala just sort of clobbered him down with overhands until the old man's balance gave out while both plodded around the ring in a very slow waltz.

 

Earlier still on the undercard, in what I had originally presumed to be the main event, Gabor Molnar handed young Robert "The Boss" K****as his first defeat via UD10 to claim both the WBF and Hungarian flyweight titles. (first attempted defense of each by K****as)

I'd love to be able to say that Williams' date with Frans Botha in February (http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?t=525535) is "on the line" here, but the sad truth is that will still be sanctioned for the promoters to squeeze Williams' and Botha's names shamelessly for a few bucks, even if Bogdán scores a brutal KO1 and Williams is stretchered out. :verysad

 

Round 1

Vajda is circling to his right, swaying over in a deep sideways lean, and dropping in lead right hands on Sánta. Quickly ducking and turning, Sánta lets them roll off the back of his skull. Sánta is poking out with light jabs as they take each other's measure circling in the middle of the ring.

Round 2

Vajda is closing in and opening up on Sánta with exchanges behind the pecking step-through jab, landing rights on the nape of the neck and then slapping left hooks across Sánta's right cheek. Sánta tries flurrying him off but Vajda is able to score moving in and out while picking off shots on his right glove while stepping away. Sánta leans in and tries some uppercuts with his long arms folded up and grinding into Vajda's stomach in between. Vajda shoves him back and resumes his deliberate circling and slow, gauging jabs.

This is for the Hungarian welterweight title. (1st defense of Vajda)

 

Round 3

Vajda is warned for low blows. Vajda is backed into a corner with Sánta dropping hooks and chops with both hands on the back of his neck as Vajda bends low at the knees. Vajda spins him around, dumping Sánta on the canvas with a counter flurry. Sánta is down, kneeling in the corner briefly and given a count as he stands. Vajda jumps on him and spears in several lead rights, landing even as Sánta dusts his face with bursts of ambidextrous slapping on the backfoot. Sánta is landing more but is getting rocked back, head snapping like a Pez dispenser. Given another standing eight counter. One more Vajda right hand, and the ref steps in.

TKO3!!!
