I apparently missed this guy's whole career. He was from Budapest, Hungary and took a Bronze Medal at the Sydney Olympics way back in 2000. As a pro he was never stopped. Compiled a final record of 34-1-0-18 and captured alphabet titles at both Light heavy and Cruiser. His only defeat was a narrow decision which came when he was around 39 and after being retired for two years. His win list doesn't have too many quality names, but he seems like he was a reasonably solid fighter who just never made waves. He seemingly retired back in early 14'

He was lineal LHW champ which, due to the current climate in boxing, was never recognised as it should have been.

Saw him fight in AC on the Froch vs Johnson card. had a rabid fan base come to cheer him on. very fun to watch

The grachev decision was terrible. the la Bomba rodriguez dual would have been fun had he got the call

Absolutely shameful career end for a legitimately good fighter, regarding the decision against Grachev. I watched that fight, was shocked at the time and still can't wrap my mind around it. What happened exactly? Typical amateur league stuff from the people running boxing in Monaco?

Very good boxer--weren't they always from Universum back them? Early stablemate of DM, and he picked up once he had retired. Me, I think he was definately a "who needs this guy" fighter for the other champs or fighters that want big $$$ to sign contracts. He could box. A top notch boxer. With that nice jab/movement/ and throw combos all night and he kept those hands up. He sure had a nice career and was impressive in a lot of those title defenses.

Very good fighter. Should've retired unbeaten. I'd have loved to see him with a promoter with more matchmaking muscle.

I remember there was one fight, I think against Mehdi Sehoune, where he went into with a really, really messed up rib injury, as well as nagging hand/wrist injuries. He struggled in the fight, because of the injuries and perhaps an off night and the fight was dead even going into the final round. Erdei roared back and finished him the 12th. It really showed Erdei's true colors.

Its too bad he didn't have the chance to test himself more against the elite, because that fight, as well as his other big wins, suggest he couldn't have made a more significant mark than he did.

He also beat up JC Gonzalez when Gonzalez was flying high, and also beat Hugo Garay when it meant something, and also had a nice win over Thomas Ulrich.

Sadly its probably not realistic to have ever expected him to fight Tarver/Johnson/Dawson etc. But fights with fellow European guys like Fabrice Tiozzo, Clinton Woods, Mario Veit, Tomas Adamek, or Jurgen Braehmer would have been nice. A cruiserweight bout with Jean Mark Mormeck would have been nice around the time Mormeck avenged his loss to O'Neil Bell.
