interesting fighter, seems very skilled but rarely fights top guys but when he does, he always steps up and proforms well... did he already pass his prime? was he actually the best light heavyweight in the last long while but was just kinda hidden from the rest of the world interesting to see how he would have done with dawson and traver etc
Was he the best light heavyweight? Hell no. He was a protected fighter. Wouldn't surprise me if he's promoted by Universum. He's fairly talented, but he'd get blasted by quite a few light heavies. His best win to date is against Fragomeni, right?
yeah i would say that is his best win, and he looked great in it espically considering how long he has been around who do you think would blast him??? i think he might lose to some guys but no one blasts him out of there
His fight against Fragomeni was ultra close. I think Chad Dawson gets a WIDE UD against him. I might give Tavoris Cloud a chance to stop him. I think current Hopkins beats him. I think current Glen Johnson beats him. I think Pascal beats him as well. That's off the top of my head, initial gut reaction.
I think Chad Dawson gets a WIDE UD against him.,,,,,probably, maybe I might give Tavoris Cloud a chance to stop him. i think erdei is too experenced but a banger like cloud has a good shot I think current Hopkins beats him. no way in hell lol.....espically if the fight is not in usa where hopkins is allowed to cheat I think current Glen Johnson beats him. good fight but i think the result would be greatly influenced on where the fight takes place I think Pascal beats him as well. nope dont see it happening
All this because he won an ultra close decision against Fragomeni? Erdei is fairly talented, but he's been protected for years, his record consists almost exclusively of no hopers. Yes, Hopkins in his slipping way past prime still beats him because he's still smart, the fictional fight would take place in America, and he wouldn't just sit there like a dummy and trade with Erdei all night like Fragomeni(watch Frag's fights, he ALWAYS fights that way, exciting as hell, but you know what your going to get) he'll smother him, he'll fight on the inside, he'll fight dirty, and he'll win. In regards to Cloud...Erdei too experienced? Clouds best and only real opponent was Clinton Woods, Erdei's best and only was Frag. Erdei has wasted years if anything.
He's past it now. Pretty good, skilled fighter who never got tested against the best. Johnson would be a close fight where location could make the difference (story of Johnson's career), Cloud's an enigma but could well be too young and strong now despite his flaws (Erdei at his best would outbox him IMO), Hopkins and Pascal probably win, and Dawson definitely wins. And, I know this doesn't have anything to do with this thread whatsoever, but I'm just throwing it out there that I think Campillo would beat Johnson, Cloud, and Erdei right now. I think he's a legit top 5 LHW, but the Shumenov screwjob might not give him the chance to prove it against the names mentioned here.
Highguard, Don't forget that Erdei barely squeezed by Hugo Garay(2X), and Medhi Sahnoune. His overall resume doesn't speak favorably about his chances against the top guys. Decent skills though.
well he has 31 fights and there are a few ok guys in there in like Julio Cesar Gonzalez,Hugo Hernan Garay,Thomas Ulrich but yeah i do agree that he has wasted his best years...cant agree there but he is more experienced then cloud, no doubt there and i disagree about hopkins, the reason being just how bad he looked in last fight vs how good erdei looked in his last fight.... also it would be nice to see the fight where hopkins is not allowed to cheat, its funny that people put that as one the reasons he will win, but as soon as something dirty gets done to him, points will be taken away i am sure lol.... also ederi does have a preety good defense so it would be that easy to outbox him and he is not that much of a brawler, he can box
If you want to use Julio Caesar Gonzalez as a "good" fighter, then you'd have to give credit to Cloud too. And Cloud's the only person to KO Gonzalez. No, Erdei isn't a brawler, he's a boxer for sure. Hopkins still takes it, we'll just have to disagree on that. Erdei looked good in his last fight but it's against Fragomeni...Frag's an interesting case, he's one of those fighters who's ALWAYS competitive because he drags everyone into a war with his workrate but he'll make you look good in the process as well(not much defensively), you put him against a guy who will clinch, bang on the inside, smother...it's a different fight than the Frag fight.
He is good, but the kind of good that means he could get a ticket to the SuperSix if he was in the division. But also the kind of good that means he would finish last or second last.
