Flyweights 125 in the UFC but it is the smallest weight class in both sports. White campaigned for years to cancel that division because it wasn't making money. No surprise here.

White publically harassed the champion of that division for years who was a nice guy and didn't want to be a part of Zuffas bull****. And this is the guy who broke all the records. Imagine the poor schmucks further down the list. Imagine a boxing promoter doing press calls to tell the media how much their best fighter sucks and how boring he is.

Money doesn’t seem to be an issue for small weights in Japan in boxing, Teraji was at 108 packing 15k arenas as the main event every time out.

Too many divisions and too many belts have made boxing like cordial that has had so much water added you just can't taste it anymore.

Change is necessary for improvement. Trimming things back has its pros and cons, but the pros outweigh the cons.

Change nothing and we have the same crud people are already complaining about.

You don't think there should be cruiserweight title fights?

Belts are only as good as the guy wearing them and Zuffa have ensured that their first belt will be worn by the best fighter in his division.

Opetaia is the best cruiserweight in the world, holds the Ring/Lineal and IBF titles and by wearing it, will straight up give the Zuffa belt prestige and credibility.

And even if Opetaia were to lose, Glanton would be the man who beat the best man in the division and he is an American as well and that has its upsides for Zuffa.

This is a smart play by Zuffa and there is no loss in it for them, only gain.
