Back before Abraham fought Ayala, Fulgencio Zuniga was scheduled to fight in a title eliminator to determine Arthur's next opponent. Zuniga's opponent had to pull out due to an injury. Somehow Zuniga's name just disappeared from consideration and we end up with Abraham/Ayala.

After the Duddy fiasco Zuniga threw his name in the hat to be Pavlik's next opponent. We could have had Pavlik/Zuniga II, but HBO ignored the best fighter available at the time, and chose Lockett.

Zuniga than signed to fight Pascal on June 6th on Friday Night Fights. Pascal post poned the fight until August 1st due to his on going shoulder problems. Now we are hearing that Pascal is to fight for the vacant WBC title instead of fighting Zuniga!

Fulgencio has not been able to land a fight since he beat 7 shades of **** out of Victor Oganov. Zuniga beat Oganov in convincing fashion, and yet, a couple of santioning bodies have Oganov ranked ABOVE Zuniga!!

Zuniga has an exciting, in your face, style. He has the balls of a rhinocerous and ducks no one. He has enough skill to beat most of the guys on the "B" list at 168, and all of the guys on the "B" list at 160. However, he has not been able to secure a fight since he thrashed Oganov. What the **** is up here?? Just what is it going to take for Zuniga to get his career back on track??

Yeah i really rate Zuniga hope he can get his lucky break.
A big upset win vs Pascal was a huge possibility.

Yes, he clearly needs a better promoter. Right now I think zuniga is considered high risk/low reward. For example, if he knocked Pascal out, very few would say Jean lost to the better man. We'd hear all about Pascal getting "exposed." If Pascal beat Zuniga, people would not credit him with a good win. They would say he beat some club fighter. A better promoter might be able to change people's perception of Zuniga and that would certainly help him.

It's more than just a shame! It's plain ****ed up!!! A 100% Pascal against Zuniga is a 50/50 fight. Zuniga would massacre the version of Pascal that fought Pittman.

Zuniga would have walked away with another prospects 0.
Messed up this fight didn't happen. I hope they make mention of it on ESPN when he does fight in August.

I feel for the guy. I was pulling pulling for Calzaghe to hold on to his trinkets a while longer so that this fight would happen. A victory there for Pascal would have gone a long way in solidifying his claim to being a bona fide contender who deserved to be in the mix fir the redistribution of Calzaghe's belts.

Yea but it was written in the contract that Pascal could pull out if he had an opportunity to fight for a title....

And don't blame Pascal, cause if you were at his place i think you would fight Karoly "Who the ****" Balzsay for a belt instead of Zuniga...

Sure. But I dislike it when alphas, who still yield considerable clout, give vacant title oppotunities to guys who aren't there yet. I can't start to like it just because I'm from the same place as Pascal and that him doing well makes it more likely that I'll get to see more major fights in person.

Zuniga - Asikainen would have been the IBF Eliminator if Amin had not hurt his hand in his TKO over Campas. So now it ended up to be Lorenzo - Marquez and Marquez is the mandatory.

Zuniga/Oganov was for the vacant IBO SMW title. Does anyone besides me think that trinket is hurting zuniga more than helping him?

Zunigas too dangerous for his own good. Its a shame he's so avoided. He'd KO Sturm and give Abraham a helluva fight IMO.
