It is hard to know what he has left after a brutal confidence shattering stoppage last time out. Got to respect him for jumping right into a tough fight against Zurdo coming off the back of that and a 16 month layoff though. Zurdo has been out for 11 months and is coming off a loss himself too (to Bivol) but at least it was on points. That being said, the fact he was so much bigger than Bivol and it was so one-sided would've put a dent in his confidence. Smith has fought Beterbiev Bivol Alvarez Vlasov Barrera B-Hop Fonseca Hart And now Zurdo. That's a very respectable resume indeed and he certainly doesn't shy away from a challenge
Smith jr did a lot better against Bivol than Zurdo did if I remember rightly but agreed, who knows what he has left since the Beterbiev loss
Agree with this. When the fight was first announced I favored Smith but the more I think about it Smith has taken some damage in recent years and is past his best. I probably favor Zurdo now 70/30 but Smith can never be counted out.
Great value for DAZN subscribers that they can watch Leigh Wood vs Josh Warrington followed by Zurdo Ramirez vs Joe Smith Jr. A fantastic double-header from Matchroom and Golden Boy!
Zurdo won’t have to look for Smith, and Smith won’t back down. I’m rooting for Smith cause he’s faced everyone, but I feel like Zurdo is the fresher of the two, and more durable, too. Has Zurdo ever been rocked or wobbled?
Really? I didn’t watch the full fight, I’ve only seen the highlight videos, and I didn’t seen him visibly wobbled. In rounds 1 and 4 he got hit with some good shots but it looked more like he was off balance. Maybe we have different definitions of that, lol. Canelo against Jose Cotto is my definition of wobbled. I watched the full fight, I think somewhere in the middle rounds Bivol hurts Zurdo but doesn't really follow up. I could be wrong, but that's my memory, pretty sure I was on the RBR for that one, I'll try to find if.
