Dempsey frequently fought with a kill or be killed mentality which suggests he had no fear of putting his chin on the line [html] Yet you choose sub par opponents like Carnera, Willard and Fulton to compare to Lewis who has little with them stylistically. Actually that's a completely meaningless comparison. Nobody is applying judo throws at anyone. As to whether or not Lennox's strength would mean anything, I suggest you want boxing rather than judo and that you watch the Ruddock fight to get some idea of where it could mean quite a bit.
Generally speaking it's not that Dempsey has no chance of beating Lewis but he has at best a punchers chance, and if Lewis could keep the fight at a distance than a punchers chance turns into almost no chance. Dempsey's only real chance would be to get to Lewis and hurt him in the first round, perhaps even the second round, but if he can't do that I think he's chances decrease significantly the longer the fight goes.
But thats exactly the point that you don't seem to get. Dempsey was a puncher who manufactured his chance. He wouldn't wait for Lewis to make a mistake, he would force him to make one. That is the difference between a limited fighter like Ramhan and an all time finisher like Dempsey.
