The Ali win. Because we know for sure he beat Foreman. Many people and Hagler himself believe that leonard did not do enough to win the title from Hagler. Only seen highlights myself so i will have to watch the whole fight. The Ali fight was bigger and he knocked his opponent out. Rumble in the Jungle all the way!
Seeing as SRL didn't REALLY beat Hagler, it has t be Ali-Foreman. Then again, Foreman got an astoundingly short count (actually only 8 seconds, if you time it) so maybe it's a tie?
I guess the poll results say it all. I guess it's not a knock on Leonard's win but just that Ali's win is one of the greatest wins ever.
P4P...Probably Leonard-Hagler. Hagler was past his prime, but don't forget SRL was coming from a very long layoff. Also, he was climbing up a division.

Unless you're a clueless gimp that's blinkered by revisionist history,it's quite clearly Leonard's hard fought,but well earned victory over Hagler,who was a far superior fighter than George Foreman ever was(both in terms of skill and achievements). Leonard's victory over Hagler remains the single greatest victory of the last 25 years,and unquestionably ranks up there among the absolute greatest in history. Sugar Ray simply was that good.
unless you hate foreman and are a leonard lover, its clear that Ali vs Foreman was a much bigger win . foreman 40-0 (37 KOs) on the upside of his career in his early to mid 20s hagler at age 33 was on the decline having been beaten 2 times and held to 2 draws previously. out of 40 media experts polled, 39 picked foreman it was split on hagler and leonard. ali knocked out the champion and left no doubts. leonard won a questionable decision thats still debated today :deal :nono :hi:
Ali vs Foreman with out a doubt. Although Ali and Leonard were expected to loose those fights. Leonard victory was controversial, while Ali victory was unquestionable.

The general consensus at the time was heavily against Leonard.Hagler was 32,hadn't been beaten in over a decade was was universally regarded as being the absolute best fighter in the sport.And - here comes the most important part - Leonard was two weight classes above his prime weight and hadn't fought in over three years(just one bout in five years). There isn't a single credible argument to be made for Ali-Foreman being a "a much bigger win", because Foreman wasn't that good.
