Max Baer v.s Jack Johnson

Jack Johnson shows Max Baer what "toying" with your opponent is all about - scoring a wide UD.

 

If you had to hand pick a champion for Johnson to make look bad then Baer would be a sound choice.

 

I would pick Leon Spinks, but Baer turns the trick too.

 

Baer would have a puncher's chance, but if Johnson was on his game, I have to agree that he wins a wide UD over him. Baer was very talented, and tends to be underrated by boxing fans today, but he could be outboxed, as his record shows.

 

In the older, more rough house fights of the Johnson era, Baer has as good a shot as the overrated Willard did.

I'll go against the grain and take Baer by KO 11.

 

I personaly cannot see a slugger beating Johnson unless he is of the swarmer type.

He won every round until Willard caught up with an exhausted Johnson.
