Who else could have finished Willard like Dempsey ?

Max Baer would have done it though in a different way than Dempsey did. He would have beat Willard just like he beat Carnera which was just as savage as what Dempsey did to Willard :deal

This is the worst kind of personal agenda driven speculation.

Lets deal with some cold hard facts here:

Ruddock never stopped a world class heavyweight inside three rounds.

Sanders beat one world class fighter inside three rounds, but he only beat one world class fighter full stop.

Tua never stopped a world class fighter inside three rounds.

Bruno beat one world class fighter inside three rounds but usualy lost when he stepped up.

Morrison never beat a world class fighter inside three rounds.

Haye never beat a world class fighter inside three rounds.

Williams never beat a world class fighter full stop.

Lets get real here, you would never dare to pick any of these guys to replicate Dempsey's feat, if there was any prospect of your prediction being tested.

Only people with a personal agenda would make predictions based on the assumption that a champion in one era would be outside the top 30 in another.

An objective observer would either reject the idea outright, or regard it as being so speculative that it was inherently the weak link in their argument.

Do you even know who the #30 heavyweight is today?

Williard would be a poor man's Tyson Fury so he would probably crack the top 30.

I will grant you that Willard had slipped somewhat when he fought Dempsey, but he had been fighting exhibitions regularly for most of the period between the Moran fight and the Dempsey fight, including some ten round exhibitions.

Its not like he was an empty shell.

Williard would be a poor man's Tyson Fury so he would probably crack the top 30.

Look at some of the fighters that have broken the top 10 since the year 2000, and the people that some of them beat to get there.

There was some weird **** about Willard in that fight. The first time he had the opportunity to clinch he instead spread his impressive wingspan and looked at the referee for help. It seems that there was something said about clinching pre-fight, perhaps?

That's part of the reason why Dempsey killed Willard and I think that there are plenty of extremely good punchers who would have got Willard out of there earlier than Dempsey. That is my opinion.

I mean Willard might noit have been the greatest fighter that ever lived, but he was not somebody you could aford to take lightly either.

Willard was not fast but he had power. So did an old Foreman , Morrison with his shaky chin fought smart against an old George, if he comes into Jess he could be caught, and caught permanently. Right uppercut spells GOODNIGHT NURSE!
