Your argument is flawed. You can't define a fighters level of physical ability just by age difference. Otherwise everyone Tyson fought in his first reign apart from Bruno and Biggs were shot because they were all 7 or more years older than him. And pretty much everyone Canelo has fought was shot.

Also what if the supposedly shot fighter then fights someone close to their age. Do they suddenly become prime again?

Hopkins was past prime. His physical prime was in the late 90's, though due to altering his style I think he could have maintained his prime up to 2004 when he fought Joppy. Anyone thinking Hopkins was prime is as much of an idiot as those who think he was shot when he fought the slappy one.
