Dillain Whyte how does he look to you.

He looks sloppy, sometimes over commits when he throws the right hand, has his left hand too low as well. But has a pretty good jab, OK speed, good reach and power.

He's jittery as well which is usually a sign of a fighter who hasn't adapted well yet to the pro game, early Wlad and David Price have the same habit. Makes it easy to time a fighter as you can predict openings in their guard.

 

It is NOT 50/50. Have you seen the betting odds?

If you think Whyte has a 50/50 shot at this then you should put a few dollars on him. He is not far off being a 10/1 underdog.

 

Well hard to know how hard he really hits.... But how quickly he dispatched of the never before KO'd, and only dropped once KJ was pretty impressive, as was his blow out of the durable Love who has been stopped but usually only fairly late as well. Going off what we've seen it's hard not to pick Joshua here. Whyte is pretty aggressive himself, and can be tagged as well.

 

Yeah no question that we won't be seeing guys dropping like flies as he steps up in class, that's obvious to anyone who's followed boxing for a while. I just don't see very much in Whyte has over him.

 

You've just spent the last few posts trying to convince us that AJ is the new George Foreman. Don't backtrack now.

Why would you even bother talking about how quickly AJ has blown the previous 14 guys out?

All 14 of them were looking for a place to lay down. Every single one of them.


If he does the same to Whyte, fine. We can talk about him being a genuine puncher. But until he's beaten Whyte - the first guy he's fought with a pulse - any talk of him being a puncher or anything else is bullshine.

Boxing fans do this time and again with punchers. They get carried away. Matthyse was the last one. Who mentions him now? I bet you were his biggest fan bois.

 

Whyte is 6ft2. Not 6ft4. He has extremly long arms though.

 

Well I'm not picking based purely on power, but technical ability. Both guys clearly aren't featherfisted. Also A> fighters quicker than B doesn't really always work dude. Both got them out of there impressively, and I'm pretty sure on both occasions Parker fought better prepared versions. I know Minto fought Whyte on very short notice, and well Costa Jr. has obviously lapsed into full time "ready whenever" type of journeyman.

I'm not sold on Joshuas chin, or stamina yet either.... But I don't think Whyte will be the guy to test him. Power isn't everything. You need the combination of power AND skill to be effective. Whyte just seems too limited to really test Joshua from what I've seen.
