No. Mayweather is a runner and a hugger. Won't work in MMA where you can take people down, pick them up and slam them, beat them up in a clinch. He's also featherfisted. Bad combination.

:deal The truth is strong with this post. Fedor's brother Aleks had good hands by mma standards, and he wanted to go into boxing. He won his matches but struggled mightliy with two no-name brand fighters, putting things into perspective.
A truckload of kick boxers, thai fighters and a few MMA fighters have had success in the ring since the 1970's or more recently in MMA's case. Nope. Plenty of other boxers if they learned to sprawl could go the distance with many lower tiered wrestlers but not mayweather.

But I agree 40 is too old to debut in another major pro sport. It'd be more interesting to see a MMA guy 26-32 yrs old in his physical prime try to cross over to box old man Mayweather since supposedly UFC guys are well rounded cross trainers
I think a highly skilled boxer has a better shot in MMA than any MMA fighter does in boxing. I'd bet it's easier to learn takedown defense and how to check leg kicks & add that to a complete boxing skill set. Floyd already has a great control of distance, fast hands, a great reach, and would probably do damage in those 4oz gloves against guys who don't get caught as cleanly as Floyd would tag them. I once outlined what I think the best emphasis for an elite boxer in MMA would be strategically, and Floyd would be able to execute it well.
