Why are you so one track minded? I proved that Botha held his own with elite heavyweights, and beat some good ones. Certainly he proved himself against far better competition than Wilder. Mercer was still a dangerous 41 year old. Certainly in today's era which isn't the greatest Mercer would have been relevant at the time just like Thompson was relevant in his early 40s, like Wlad, Vitali etc. Mercer may have not beat Wilder, but he definitely had the tools to pull the upset off and at the very least would have busted him up pretty good and taken some rounds. Wilder hasn't proved himself elite in his own era, has shown plenty of flaws.. Why couldn't someone who was still tough, fairly durable and still had a good jab spring the upset. O

Povetkin is a 37-year-old PED user who won an Olympic medal without ever fighting a guy for that medal and he was a WBA "regular" belt holder without ever beating a reigning champ. I'm sure he'll willingly sign to fight Duhaupas for another belt. Povetkin's never beaten any reigning champs for their titles. And he's nearly 40. Why should he break the streak now? But I think Duhaupas, who has come into his own, would crush him at this point. Povetkin was not only coddled when he was in his prime, now he's a drug cheat as an old fighter trying to hang on to what's left of the career he wasted. Povetkin gets to hold on for a few more months. Either Duhaupas or Wilder will end his wasted career for him.

And I think Duhaupas would beat Povetkin because I actually watch boxing. Duhaupas knocked out Helenius and Duhaupas fought a tough fight with Wilder, while Povetkin was going 12 with Wach and cycling his pills and pushing back fight dates and taking drugs to try to keep maintain his shape. Duhaupas is a legit top 10 heavyweight right now. Which you would know if you actually watched the fights you were commenting on. Who knows what Povetkin will look like when he can't take all the pills he wants to maintain his conditioning. He didn't look all that great against Wach, and he was still using them then. Povetkin's career is about to come to a crashing halt, either way.

100% true. Was gonna make a similar thread myself to counter some of the exaggerate hate laid on Metal Face Wilder. Povetkin overall of course has faced a lot of good fighters though.

he is facing some decent opposition to be fair. so can't really knock him. he's stopped some guys during hes title run that have a chin that a steel pole would bend from.
