Wut??? No he was given no sanctions re Wilder fight nor was his ranking taken. Remember he was to fight Stiverne?? It was that fight totally separate you are thinking about... No sanctions from Wilder fight because they found nothing. Wilder ran so the WBC had no choice but to suspend the fight.. Its you fan bois who won't believe the truth.
He got removed from the rankings after he got busted by VADA again, for the fight with Stiverne (who got busted earlier on). The winner would fight Wilder, only there never was a winner. Povetkin was still the #1 contender after the Wilder debacle.

The jury took just 32 minutes to reach a verdict finding that Povetkin used the performance-enhancing drug during the leadup to what was supposed to be a mandatory fight against heavyweight world titleholder Deontay Wilder last May 21 in Moscow. The fight was canceled nine days before the fight when a Voluntary Anti-Doping Association-conducted test found that Povetkin had meldonium in his system.
