Going through some stuff today and found my old collection of British Classics. A name you don't here much on here Wayne Alexander, what a frightening puncher. He took Harry Simon on 24 hrs notice and done well, Simon knew about it bigtime. Then there was the Takaloo fight, nearly took poor Tak's jaw off. Very very good fighter, and streets a head of any light middle at the time in the Uk. Whats your views lads ?? Pity he couldn't get Vargas at the time, would've been a cracker !
Wayne Alexander takes me back to being 14/15 all over again. I remember the Takaloo KO, that was brutal like Takaloo had been hit with a missile.....he was being trained by John Breed over in Northern Ireland at that time I think. I remember when there was talk of Alexander v Farnell, that'd of been suicidal on Farnell part imo.
Yeah he would've destroyed Farnell, Alexander was legit. Looked like he was tapping them with some shots and they would be all over the place. He has a youtube channel that I've subscribed to, and the fellas a class act, proper family man. Do you remember Fernando Vargas then ? At the time he was the big thing at the weight, and a match between them two would've been a classic. Pity it never happened. He belonged at world level !
Wow that's a name from the past for sure. I liked him a lot at the time, an exciting and enjoyable fighter to watch with his power.
I mentioned him in a thread I started a while back. Massive puncher for the weight. Actually I mentioned him recently when mentioning his fight with Samuels. What a cracker that was. He did well early against Simon but I think broke both his hands. I think I read that Simon acknowledged his punch. I always wondered how Alexander vs R Williams would have gone at LHW when both were on the up. We had a few names at LMW then with Alexander, Takaloo, Williams, S Roberts, Farnell
Williams was a lovely boxer to watch, smooth operator no doubt. I think Alexander stops him though as good as Williams was. Would've been a different fight with more than 24hrs notice for Simon, or a tighter fight anyway !

Yeah, no 1 was a beauty. Could read the opening under fire very well. If he was stunned he went looking for them !
What a genuine puncher! A guy who really believed in his power. You can see with the Takaloo ko in his crouch that he was looking for the left hook.
Spot on. He knew he was gonna knock him out, very rare you actually see it coming before it happens, his body language to me said " right i'm knocking you spark now with this punch ". You said it perfectly " he believed in his power" ! He basically picked when he was gonna knock him out !
Good puncher though not quite top class in my opinion. Vargas was world class and I could not quite see Alexander beating the elite level fighters.
