Prime Mike Tyson vs Prime David Tua

Yep, don't deny that at all

 

Tyson had the faster hands in a combo and more energy early. In this fight it would not be a chase for anyone, this has to be a shoot out and 3-4 rounds would be longer than I expect.

My guess is Tyson by KO or stop before the 5th

 

Wow, I'm surprised Tyson is shutting out Tua in this one. I've been around boxing forums and a lot of fans put Tua up there. Good to see this place still has many knowledgable posters.

By the way, Tyson's chin is top tier. He didn't pack it in like Tua did against Lennox Lewis. He kept coming forward. The better skilled fighter with multiple weapons wins this one.

 

This. The way Buster Douglas was attacking from all angels and beating Tyson to the punch almost every time neutralized almost all of Tyson's offense. Tua doesn't have that type of versatility to his offense.

 

Why does Foreman get to use the excuse of being tired, but when Tyson uses it, it's just that, an excuse?

A 36 year old washed up Tyson took 8 rounds of punishment from 245 pound mega puncher Lennox Lewis. Tyson was outweighed by about 15 pounds.

A prime, in shape, clean living 25 year old George Foreman took 8 rounds of punishment from relatively light hitting Ali, who he outweighed by 4 pounds.

And Dempsey is an exception. The general rule is bigger men hit harder. Why not compare Dempsey to Lennox Lewis instead of Valuev if size is meaningless?

 

You know what bugs me the most? Tyson detractors saying he never got off the canvas to win a fight. I give more credit when a fighter doesn't get knocked down than someone who gets decked and wins.

Using "give more credit when a fighter doesn't get knocked down than someone who gets decked and wins" logic, Tex Cobb's loss to Larry Holmes was a more impressive achievement than Rocky Marciano's win over Jersey Joe Walcott.

I've never seen Douglas and Holyfield called light handed, until now. The description fits neither.

 

The point of diminishing returns is definitely above 180 imo. More like 200-210 for me.

 

Tua probably has an advantage in work rate, but that doesn't compensate enough for Tyson's superior speed and skill. Mike wins this.

 

I don't give Tyson an excuse, while Tyson had better stamina that Foreman, Tyson still had bad stamina.

Dempsey hit harder than Lennox Lewis

 

For Heavyweights they were. They don't hit as hard as say, Max Baer, Floyd Patterson or Luis Firpo
