Gennady Gennadyevich Golovkin vs. Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam

I'm calling it. This one is (all but, soon to actually be "officially" announced to be) official for June 8th, two months from today.

(It was reported as being finalized last week, but Team GGG pumped the brakes over the last 24 hours, saying it was between HNN and some 34 year old Canadian jabroni named Steven Michael Rolls...but let's be real. It won't be Rolls. That would make Brandon Adams seem like a missed golden opportunity...)

There will be no world titles on the line, as - for the first time in nearly a decade - neither man holds a version of any. The only hardware that might be put up would be the WBC Silver middleweight, in what would be N'Dam N'Jikam's first defense. Golovkin has maintained a #1 ranking by the WBC (and, in fact, by every major org save the IBF, who dropped him all the way down as low as #10!) since being deposed by Canelo Álvarez. N'Dam N'Jikam is only ranked by the WBC, but is their number three contender.

Those who don't like it - too bad. After two wars against Canelo (and Jacobs a short time earlier) it would actually be totally acceptable for Golovkin to face a Brandon Adams - or hell, even Steve Rolls - at this point. It could be a great deal better than HNN, yes, but it could also (without too much room for criticism, given his recent schedule) be a hell of a lot worse.

 

I don't think Jacobs or Canelo would stop him, either. In fact, if he fought even Murata eight more times, I think he would maybe lose them all but would still have gone the distance with the Japanese brawler nine times of ten.

 

He'd be likelier to do it than GGG or Canelo, yeah.

 

Cool. How confident in that declarative statement would you say you are? You mind being permanently banned if that ends up not being true?
