He outboxed Jacobs, and before you say they dehydrated Jacobs I'll bring up two undeniable facts.

Fact 1. The IBF has a rule that limits a fighter from hydrating more than 10 lbs on the day of the fight, a rule which Jacobs was subject too in his fight with Derevyanchenko just seven months before.

Fact 2. Daniel Jacobs decided to not follow the hydration clause and opted to pay the fine instead. So what does that mean? Jacobs was as healthy as he could have been and Canelo still outboxed him. Eat it and weep bro.

Against Cotto, Canelo conceded to Cotto's demands of having the fight at a catchweight of 155. More facts proving your post is garbage.

Fact 1: the IBF dropped that requirement prior to the Jacobs/Canelo fight

Fact 2: No he was not as healthy as he could have been because he had to pay a fortune for every lb he rehydrated. Against Golovkin he basically completely ignored every stipulation and GGG was the guy that was dried out.

Fact 3: 155 lb is Caneloweight.

 

After the Yarde fight I was sure Canelo would stop Kovalev. But now I'm having second thoughts.

The main factors are:
1) This short pause between the fights might be a good thing for Kovalev. He was in good (relatively for him at his age) shape against Yarde and should be even better in the upcoming fight. Now he's spending time in a remote Altay mountain resort with his family, and when Sergey gets back to the US, the training camp will start. No time for distractions and doing stupid things out of boredom.

2) Kovalev intentionally used (to prevent hand injures) bigger and denser gloves against Yarde and will box in his "battle mode" softer Reyes gloves vs. Canelo. (Sergey explained this point in his autobiographic book — he did the same fighting Chilemba before Ward).
