Great video, and great prediction, I see it the exact same way, maybe even to the round. I did this thread a few days ago breaking down why I picked Ruiz to win the first time around, and why I think he'll do the double as well. A Fairly Thorough Explanation As To Why Ruiz's KO Victory Over AJ Was In Fact NOT A Fluke.
Clicked the Like button before I watched the video, becauseI knew it would be quality. You did not disappoint. A lot of the stuff you've been saying I've been saying too, namely, that AJ has to become Wlad vs RUiz. But you touched on a key point that I and many others may not have picked up on. Namely, that the adjustments AJ has to make are larger in scale than those Ruiz has to make. Good wrapup
Agree with basically all of that. Best approach for Joshua is stay on the outside and only throw one or two shots at a time, clinch and smother when ruiz closes IF he can stay disciplined and build a lead past 7,8,9 rounds I think Ruiz might become a bit vulnerable. Overall though, I'll be shocked if Joshua wins, not saying it's impossible but I don't see him reversing a result so quickly, as I'm not convinced by him on the back foot, he did it vs Parker buy he looked ropey all night in that one imo.
I actually read this the other night after I had already recorded the audio for my video. I remember especially liking/agreeing with your point regarding Ruiz's ability to parry, which isn't something I specifically touched on in my video, but I think it is an important point that fits in conjunction with a lot of other areas where we have overlapping views on the matter. Good stuff.
Nearly every time AJ has dropped an opponent he’s gone in and finished them off. With Ruiz this was not the case and Ruiz was fine after the knockdown, I don’t think they expected him to fire back like he did and then bounce that big shot off the top of AJ’s head which he never really recovered from. It was all too late Part of me thinks AJ obviously wanted to make a big statement stateside and blow Ruiz out of the water. If AJ had stuck to mcrackens instructions and kept it long I believe they would’ve taken Ruiz out late in the fight and I think they will get it right in the rematch
Going with AJ. So often these rise to the occasion type guys come into the next big fight of theirs out of shape and certainly without the focus and drive. Actually lots of times for the remainder of their careers after the big money came in. I think we see that again and this time it is Ruiz showing up with his B game and Joshua the guy with his A game.
I favor Joshua in the rematch, certainly after the reports of Ruiz living it up instead of training. Expecting a Buster Douglas kinda story here who after shocking the world ended up out of shape in his first defence, getting blasted out in a couple of rounds. Would I like a repeat? Yes! Just hoping that doesn't result in scattering the belts again as it's not very likely that Ruiz (as a Haymon fighter) would honor his IBF mandatory and even more unlikely honoring his WBO mandatory.
I favor Andy unless the REF is the real adversary in the rematch. Parker was kept at bay or forced to break anytime on the inside with AJ which gave AJ a big advantage and time to reset the distance in that fight. AJ has proven he can go to war but Andy has a real gas tank , power , speed and chin. I just can’t list as many positives for AJ against this style of fighter. Andy by TKO mid 8th if not 7th ROUND KO
I've got a feeling, that unless Joshua is completely broken mentally (as a fighter) he will beat Ruiz in the rematch. By a boring (maybe even controversial) decision, most probably. Especially with Ruiz preparing like this: This content is protected
That's how Ruiz trained for the first fight and only Dustin Nichols can gobble down more of those Pizza's than Ruiz!
Go against whatever this guy says in grudge matches . He was wrong with Klitchko hes going to be wrong here and I probably forgot some included AJ . Im telling you guys who are actually betting money ,if you pick Ruiz you will lose it . Joshua will once again become a unified belt holder ,if you have money to waste then take a shot on Ruiz.
