Seen someone call this fight on par with Pacquiao/Márquez 4 so I figured why not compare them? Writing before scoring, I have no knowledge of this fight at all, and don't even know who won. Hopefully it's better than Pac vs JMM.

No need for a feeler out round. Straight to exchanging. After 6, I know I had it wide, but you could feasibly give the first 4 either way. 5&6 were pretty clear cut imo. The momentum shifted clearly in 7&8, Salido landing a bag of shots. Round 9 was war, very hard to split. Round 10 too, but Vargas stunned him and took it. Round 11 was very hard to split as well, I thought Salido's body work took it. Round 12 was well... **** me! What a finale. Salido's late flurry earned it but that was 180 and seconds of brawling. Vargas' face was a mess, at the end. Salido looked better at the end, extraordinary for a 35 year old.

It's always great when the judges get it right.

10 year age disparity, here. 25 to 35. Márquez's longevity was excellent when you think about it, especially when you think about all the wars he was in. Watching the pre fight introductions; Diaz looks like a good guy and an exciting fighter. Márquez too, but I already knew that. I said it already but, who doesn't like Márquez?

Round 1&2 were close enough to go either way. Márquez was stunned in both by left hooks, but adapted nicely and landed more in return. Depends what you like, but I like Márquez's classier skills. Diaz cleanly out-working JMM in the third. The fourth was beautiful violence... I couldn't split it. In the 5th, Diaz's picture perfect left hooks snagged it in my eyes. The 6th was similar to the 4th in that Diaz cleanly out-worked JMM. In 7th, Márquez started out timing him but Diaz kept piling on pressure and took another round. The 8th another all-out war, but Márquez stunned Diaz late and that's what took it.

The uppercut which got the KO was as textbook as they come. A perfect example of how skilled Márquez was.

Round 4: 10-8 Kalambay (the ref didn't care for Graham's penchant for spinning his opponent. He warned him twice and then deducted a point)

Definitely thought Herol deserved this one. But good fight and they fought their hearts out. Actual scores were 116-111, 115-114 and 115-112 all for Kalambay. I can only consider the 115-114 reasonable.

A tough fight to score. I think you and I only agreed on half of the fight. I had the same score as Harold Lederman, but I know our rounds 6 and 7 were inverted. It was just that kind of a fight. Diaz' aggression against the pin-point punching of Marquez. A very fine line in scoring, but what a fight!

First time watching this one in it's entirety. I saw extended highlights and about 6 rounds the weekend it happened but never got round to completely scoring it and it wasn't too hard to score, but there were lots of close/swing rounds*. Kovalev's jabbing was the main factor in winning rounds, whilst Canelo's pressure and body work wore him down and eventually set up the KO.

*4/5/7/9/10 were close enough to be split either way.

Since it's Canelo; it's controversial. What'd you expect? The controversy here, imo, is simply haters looking for dirt on Canelo. It was a peach of shot which got the KO, and the dive claims are obviously bull****. Looking at the cards, is anyone surprised Canelo was up? I'm not. It was a close fight, you know what happens with him and those.

The rehydration clause and Kovalev's age is definitely a viable accusation, though. He was 35, and had known weight problems. These things meant Kovalev was just a shrivelled shell of his former self, relying solely upon his jab and feet. His power, strength and chin had gone.

Great win, still, just not as great as it could've been.

Tough one to score, but plenty of action. Awesome fight. Too good to be missing rounds. Demarco fight was better, though.

Both of these guys are supremely skilled, and clearly had issues with going to war! Said method of fighting really gave Yuh the advantage imo.

For such an amazing fight, this was a piece of **** to score. The 6 KDs did it for me! Awesome set of shots to get the KO too, punch perfect left hook, right uppercut.

Why did Salido have to be a drug cheat? He embodies what I like in tough fighters yet used PEDs... I'm now in a dilemma whether I'm a super fan or not.

Jandaeng always was a low-level fave of mine (as was Salido, but he is hardly under the radar, probably among the most famous journeymen ever). A lot of people dismiss JMM's easy & dominant victory over him because he isn't much of a name, but - to me it just cements what a h2h beast prime Dinamita was.

Márquez was an animal in his prime. He was animal past it too, look at the Diaz fights. Turdsack has the most unfortunate name ever... Salido is entertaining as FOOK. I intend to keep watching! Lomachenko fight up next.

Yeah, I feel you on the "nothing to do, let's watch strangers argue over unprovable **** on a forum" vibe. I do it myself, and someone as hyper-active as me, but with such a short attention span means I jump from thread to thread aimlessly. It's somewhat helpful as I soak up knowledge that quickly leaves my head but is stored by my autism and called upon when needed. The other day I realized that I knew there were 2 big venues in Las Vargas, and that Mosley/Margs was moved from one to the other. Why the **** do I need to know that??? Look, see, I'm rambling again.
