Fury doesn’t usually sit down on his shots and idiots that don’t know boxing were like “but.. but... he don’t have power doe”
I made a thread many years ago in which this was discussed: https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/wilder-hits-about-as-hard-as-fury-nothing-more.560260/
Fury is abit of an arm puncher The only punches he throws with natural power on them are his overhand right which he doesn't normally throw and his left hook to the body. Fury with his low guard and arm punching can throw shots from weird angles from range around and over the top of the classic big stiff idiot heavyweight guard. He's very hard to deal with. These punches still hurt. Fury has never shown a power jab like the one he threw against Wilder. It was magnificent. He has shown all the other power punches in his early career He still isn't a natural puncher but he's a 270 pound titan who can wear you down. Fury's beatings are worse than your typical heavyweight because he isn't a KO puncher. He'll jab your nut in till you look like the elephant man for 12 rounds. The Chisora beating was brutal just popping him for 10 rounds straight. He looked like he'd been in a car crash.
Poor Paulie. LOL I guess his name is synonymous with zero power; like Corrie Spinks used to be LOL I think fury is seen as having less than impressive power, Due to his lack of dramatic powerful knockout shots that people love to see. People would expect a man of his size to really lay his opponent out with one shot, and do it on a regular basis I think his lack of dramatic, highlight reel knockouts is not due to lack of Physical strength and punching force, but due to his arm punching technique he likes to stay up, moving and bouncing on the balls of his feet; staying mobile and elusive, and not really planting himself or commit very much weight to his shots But lately with the new Kronk style, he seems to be putting more force and body weight behind his punches, and results are speaking for themselves, as in the last wilder fight
Hadn’t seen that fight in a while ———and I had forgottenjust how much he dominated Wilder he walked right through the supposed “biggest puncher in history” LOL what an impressive performance that was
Fury's always been able to punch. I said this way before the second Wilder fight. There's an interview with Rico Verhoeven from a few years back where he explains how concussive Fury's shots are even though they don't look that hard. Plus you only have to look at the effect his shots have on guys like Chisora (face welted up like a swarm of bees attacked him) and Hammer (no mas) to see his shots have a very real, very measurable effect. His "featherfistedness" comes from the fact that he rarely sits down on shots, and prefers to pepper guys at range with weird-angled punches they can't see coming. But the dude's over two metres tall and weighs around 260lbs. It's no surprise that even if he's just throwing clubbing arm punches he's still going to do a fair degree of damage.
