Yes. He KOed Coetzee in one. Even an old one was better a win than an older LaStarza for Cockell, or a controversial decision over Rex Layne for LaStarza. Plus, I'll take Bruno doing so well vs Lewis over what I see from those two as well.

What you have to think is all these guys would be fighting at LHW today, all of them. A good big un beats a good little un. Giving up 30-60lbs of weight in boxing is a heck of a disadvantage in every facet. It's not just power, it's chin, it's been knocked off balance, it's being pushed back, it's about getting tired of having a heavy oaf leaning on you, it's about them being able to reach you before you can reach them.

You would have to at least be somebody who typically KOd his better opponents, before I picked you to beat somebody faster than Marciano!

 

Lastarza and Cockell were not the greatest contenders, and they were not big men, but they were tricky defensive specialists.

They were not easy guys to put away.

Lastarza was the #1 contender when Marciano beat him, and Cockell was the #2 contender.

They were not the best contenders of their era, but they deserved their rankings, and were not men to take lightly.

I wouldn´t rule 60s Ali out here. He was a bit more agressive due to more energy.

9.4 rounds is hell lot of time to stop each of these seniors. Young Ali could very well finish the job quicker.
