That doesn't necessarily mean that they wee harder to stop. Was he? How do you figure that one out? Because there is nothing about Witherspoon's record, to suggest that he was a knockout artist. Nothing!
No it doesn't, not necessarily. But in this case, they are. I'm fairly certain that no version of Randolph Turpin could stop Greg Page. Yes. He KOed Coetzee in one. Even an old one was better a win than an older LaStarza for Cockell, or a controversial decision over Rex Layne for LaStarza. Plus, I'll take Bruno doing so well vs Lewis over what I see from those two as well. So you're saying Witherspoon couldn't punch then?
Does he need to be an KO-artist to go quicker than 9.25 avr. rounds ? The question was who could do it quicker, no one was discussing KO-artists
Very Likely Tyson Wlad Foreman Joshua Wilder Liston Frazier Holyfield Bowe Maybes Vitali Dempsey Shavers Tua Ibeabuchi Witherspoon Rudduck Bruno Morrison What you have to think is all these guys would be fighting at LHW today, all of them. A good big un beats a good little un. Giving up 30-60lbs of weight in boxing is a heck of a disadvantage in every facet. It's not just power, it's chin, it's been knocked off balance, it's being pushed back, it's about getting tired of having a heavy oaf leaning on you, it's about them being able to reach you before you can reach them. Weight classes for a reason
"Marciano is overrated" said Tyson fan from their stupid fan army...if anything Marciano is underrated along with Johnson,Baer,Dempsey...
You would have to at least be somebody who typically KOd his better opponents, before I picked you to beat somebody faster than Marciano!
Lastarza and Cockell were not the greatest contenders, and they were not big men, but they were tricky defensive specialists. They were not easy guys to put away. I am not seeing anything in Witherspoon's record, to suggest that he does it quicker than Marciano. Lastarza was the #1 contender when Marciano beat him, and Cockell was the #2 contender. They were not the best contenders of their era, but they deserved their rankings, and were not men to take lightly. No, I am just saying that he does not fall into the same category as Marciano!
Without a shadow of a doubt by a peak Tyson, Liston, Foreman. Many other modern ATGs would beat those too, but I don't know exactly how fast.
Yea, but it was mostly due to an accumulation of punches. He will definitely beat all of them, but I'm not so sure on how fast.
I wouldn´t rule 60s Ali out here. He was a bit more agressive due to more energy. 9.4 rounds is hell lot of time to stop each of these seniors. Young Ali could very well finish the job quicker.
