There was still the vestiges of the sanctioning bodies each pretending they were the one and only sanctioning body. Now they've basically accepted each is holding a share of the real prize. Plus Mayweather was lucky enough to have a few rivals who took time out of their busy schedules to distinguish themselves by fighting some decent opposition instead of just waiting by the phone like a girl in a 50's movie. It was a curtain call kind of fight.
