I have Spence / Crawford as one of the best 50/50 fights between 2 prime fighters in a long time.
I get what people see in Crawford. He clearly has the advantage in speed by a good margin and has good balance, great power and is a great finisher and a lot of things you want in a fighter but I think Spence's strengths will be enough to get him a W.

He doesn't have elite footspeed but he cuts of the ring well and just applies nonstop pressure.
He doesn't have great handspeed but he can be creative with his shot selection and can produce some interesting angles.
He is a relentless and murderous bodypuncher that seemingly cannot be dissuaded. Fast and flashy hands drop in volume pretty quick with a sustained body attack.

Looking forward to this fight so much. Don't care who wins because I like them both. I definitely don't think it will be a cakewalk for either guy. Crawford isn't known as a fast starter and I think Earl may bank a few early rounds and accumulate a body attack, so by the time Crawford heats up he will have taken some shots. That is just the way I see it going. Could totally go the other way too.

Spences shot selection is like Jab, straight, jab jab, straight to body

Both have creative/dynamic offense which makes this such an appealing fight. Both fighters are past peak though, which is unfortunate.

If they held it before Spence's accident this could have been an historic trilogy.

It should still be more interesting action than Mayweather/Pac but there will always be that question about what might have been (especially if Spence loses).

I don't think Spence has any advantage apart from age

There is nothing great about him. nothing.

I would give him huge credit if he beats Bud with dominance.

Why only if "he beats Bud with dominance"?

I just can't wait for the fight. I think Spence is gonna look ordinary again. His only impressive performance where he didn't look like a total amateur with his wide predictable shots and almost all catching a glove or not landing clean was against Ugas. Nothing looks good with him besides that performance.

Every other fight his punches don't land clean, he just goons the guy with physical pressure and the guy usually can't handle it.

    Spence should get dealt with.

I’m leaning Crawford now. He’s very sharp and if Ugas can hurt Spence like that, you know Crawford can too. But Crawford did go 10 with Porter. I was not expecting Porter to do so well because he’s so in your face. I expected Crawford to put him out with a counter earlier.

So if Porter can last that long with his kind of attack, Spence, who is more responsible defensively, might make the distance and win the fight.

    I got Crawford though.

@sasto, I respect your opinion so I'm a bit curious. Other than his age, is there anything you've seen in Crawford's performances that makes you believe he is past his peak?

Prior to his accident I would have agreed with you however…

Rewatch Spence vs Garcia, Spence vs Ugas.

Round 6 against Ugas, that whole round was a disaster, and the end of round 11 against Garcia.

After coming back from his accident Spence has shown a tremendous lapse in ring awareness when he gets hit hard. He sort of switches off for a second, loses focus and ring awareness. If this happens against Crawford, Bud will viciously destroy him. Against Ugas the ropes were the only thing keeping Spence up when that occurred and it should have been scored a knockdown.

I see what you're saying but I have seen those moments and how I look at it is that he was in complete control of those fights and I think Crawford is actually going to keep him sharp all night long and I have to believe we won't see a moment like that in a fight he will need to be his best in. I could of course be wrong but that is how I see it.

Because he’s a Spence hater. The fact that he said “Spence has no advantages apart from age” should tell you he’s clearly not objective and not to be taken seriously

Ok, I'm saying it now: Spence ENDS the "Crawford is PFP #1" dream train. Spence has all the tools
and the experience to defeat, maybe KO Bud.

Now you know. Bring it on.

I really think the margin between the 2 (Spence and Crawford) is a lot smaller than some think. Even if we look at how both did vs Porter it looks similar to me when you factor in certain things. After the Spence loss is really when Porter began a full transition to broadcasting, where previously it was more of a filler.
In the lead up to Spence, he had fought twice in the last year, while in the Bud fight, he hadn't fought in over a year. Yeah I get Spence was in a bad car wreck but I really don't see it as having taken a lot out of him. It's not like a big change like you saw when Jose Benevidez Jr. came back from being shot... he was definitely a different fighter.
