That's true. You know, you guys might actually share at least a couple of opinions.

 

All respect to you but I find that hard to imagine. A 36 year old Marciano coming off a three and a half year layoff and beating an in-his-prime Smokin' Joe would be an extremely difficult task. Rocky would use his I'll take two or three punches to land one style but that is a bad way to fight Frazier. I believe that in this one, Rocky would get stopped in the 7th round or so.

Happily, The Rock was one of the few smart ones who stayed retired.

Then I was one of 3 guys (unless others went unnoticed) he ridiculed or was otherwise cruel towards.
Since then he has gone Full Troll or Modernista channeling Comfy Contempt from a Safe Anonymous Internet Distance

Something must be wrong to elicit such unprovoked personal attacks.

 

Given the mods deleted a truckload of posts a few days between a few of you i'd be steering well clear of being the one to start it back up in public.

I'm not the brightest but i reckon anyone looking to rekindle things would be trading a really really fine line.

I'd let it rest unless provoked and even then I'd be careful in what i said.

Or simply PM them.

He would obviously have to face a few mediocrities first as no one back then would know he was the future champion. So I’m guessing it might take him perhaps two years to get a title shot ? If this is how things would unfold ( and I’m reaching here ) then a meeting between Frazier and Patterson around 1961 seems like the most likely scenario In which case I’d favor Joe to win. Then again, Patterson was steered clear of some of the better contenders of his time so Joe may find himself face to face with Sonny Liston in perhaps an elimination match. Under these circumstances I’d favor Sonny. But a Liston victory isn’t a forgone conclusion in my book. Joe was a master at slipping the jab and barreling his way to the inside where he worked the head and body very well. He had what was possibly the best left hook of all time and we saw how Liston was shaken up by the left of Cleveland Williams. Frazier was also very fast, had an incredible work rate and great stamina. Lots of heart too. Would have been a tough one
