How about judges stop scoring rounds for guys who only run backwards, hold, and do absolutely zero damage during the round. Has anyone ever thought about that? Or are the judges in the bag too?

Judges are definitely in the bag. Will always give the decision to the most marketable fighter (especially WBC). To be fair I would have given Stevenson a draw for his performance, also to set an exeample for fighters thinking they win a "fight" by throwing two jabs and running away.

To me, that is not the definition of "fighting". And also for respect for the people that bought the tickets...

The U.S. seems obsessed with these types though? Runners are lauded as 'practioners of the sweet science'. It's quite bizarre.
Just look at the praise they heap on Andre Ward. An absolute abomination of a fighter yet they wax lyrical about the guy.
I'm with you, excessive backwards movement should be point penalties.

Two judges gave DLS 5 rounds. That tells me that they were actually scoring against Stevenson's antics. Had DLS been able to simply cut off the ring and mount any semblance of offense, he probably wins going away and we aren't having this discussion.

What's funny to me is that the same people criticizing Stevenson will argue until they are blue in the face that Loma got robbed against Haney. He did the same thing Stevenson did until late in the fight.

Guys like this, particularly if they have distinguished amateur careers, will always get the benefit of the doubt for their non-combative antics as judges will erroneously see this as "sweet science" wizardry.

This is nothing new. As others have said Lomachenko got all kinds of benefit from judges on these grounds and Mayweather before him too - among many others.

Not exactly. I'm in the U.S. and people keep clinging to finding the next Floyd...but they don't grow on trees. As we're seeing most "boxers", that is - hit and dont get hit specialists, are a poor man's Floyd in that they defend well but dont counter punch or generate offense.

Floyd was a killer at 140 and below. He tried to hurt and beat up opponents. By the time the DLH fight came around his hands were already shot and he pretty much became a pure boxer, but he still hit his opponents flush w jabs and right hands and defended beautifully.

These guys like Haney and Shakur and Plant (and whoever else) are nothing like Floyd.

I get annoyed that opponents dont steamroll and bulldog these guys but oh well.

Just don't pay to see them. I wouldn't pay a dime to see Stevenson fight again

    ^^

    This

They aren't going to change scoring criteria or judges to please Boxing fans online.

He will continue be pushed as the future of Boxing by Top Rank & the shills in the industry, too late to step back now

The only power you have is not to tune in even if the fight is on "free" TV, save your time & tank the ratings for Shakira's stinkers

Carl Froch, is that you? Just kidding. Andre Ward had an ugly style, but he definitely was not a runner. Shakur, or is it Shakira Stevenson, should be ashamed of that performance. I wonder what Bud and Bo “Big” Mac think about it.

Bud already justified in a post fight interview saying that he got the win & that's all that matters, something to that effect

He should know, he did something like that against Postol & got boo'd. This was on his first PPV & he wonders why he never became the big star
