It was good for Fury to get a 2nd reminder that he got to where he is not because he can punch but because he cannot punch and stops opponents on attrition, skill and ring smarts. You can see he's choosing to come light against Usyk...problem is does this Kronk back and forth in straight lines nonsense work? I don't rate it, when you have someone who can take a shot or move themselves issues occur.

    Don't care
Would prefer Francis won, but Aj showed the levels

I like Ngannou, he is a good man who came up the very hard way, so I didn't get much pleasure from seeing him knocked out so brutally. However the outcome does go someway in restoring the credibility of heavyweight boxing.

I’m glad he is not seriously hurt but boxing needed him to be crushed

It's not the same being happy that all that nonsense endend and being happy that ngannou was brutally put unconcious.

It was painful to read so many people saying stupid things against reality, like ngannou being at world top level.

This is ngannou "parrying" a punch. In the first KD AJ feints a jab and ngannou tries to parry it with his right hand. His right hand overreacts soooooo much that it nearly touches his own knee. Stupid level of incompetence.

And this is not a "one time thing". He does the same all the time, nonstop, appart from resetting like a little girl with every feint. Having to read that this guy is a "top boxer" was extremely painful. Thanks God it has finished, unfortunately for that to happen the guy had to be nearly killed.

It was still a cash grab for everyone involved. Credibility for the sport would have been Joshua and Hearn saying fight, build a career and get a proper ranking then we will talk. Instead they have joined the disgraceful Fury's antics but just turned in a far more professional performance. These fights should not be happening in the first place.

These fights tell us nothing, except that Barnum had the right idea. It was a novice against a world champion level boxer. Or have a genuine crossover fight where each athlete can use their full respective sports, otherwise it's still a joke.

Another problem is that a lot of these guys aren't really "mixed martial artists" at all. They're glorified wrestlers with various styles of wrestling. They have the good fortune of being in a sport where you can throw your arms around like a drunken sailor and if you happen to connect to another wrestler's chin while wearing small gloves it usually will knock them over and then you can get on top of them when they're already down and, without any skill, hammerfist the side of their temple until the referee waves off the flight. In that sport this is considered a "knockout."
In boxing, the sport of professional fist fighting, a knockout is like what you saw Anthony Joshua do where he rendered a man senseless and swept him off his feet and sent him to the Netherworld of the force with an actual punch

You really have to be banned from the internet and you should probably read books more. Maybe a monastery?

    I,m not happy !

It would be an incredible story and fresh wind for the division if he really would be competitive .

And i,m especially not happy that dazn cashed me out in ppv like for a megafight of the century and in fact all i saw is francis taking a nap on the canvas ;-)

I had no idea this 'fight' was even happening but I would have been relieved because you're never sure if fights are going to be on the level. I do see it as Joshua cleaning up a mess that Fury made.

Hopefully this is the end of this crossover nonsense. Now I wish boxing commentators would quit sounding like MMA commentators.

    Interesting post.

So what you're saying is... Fury went basic ***** using an aggressive style despite his pillow fists to fight Wilder (and a few bums on the side) because he knew how useless Wilder was.

And now he's preparing for Usyk, he has to get back into a more pure boxing style because Usyk isn't simple enough for him to stay predictable.

I mean, it's one way to diminish Fury's resume since returning, I guess?

Fury would be stupid to shoehorn himself into fighting one specific way against Usyk. He will have to be adaptable it's the big advantage Fury has, he has some options meanwhile Usyk will fight one specific way.

    You really should be banned.

So Ngannou a proud champion pretended to be embarrassed and get a concussion? And the blood inside his lip was fake. This is so unbearably stupid. Comic book nerds should stay away from sports

I think boxing really needed this outcome, a lot of the public perceive MMA as the superior combat sport at the moment and I think many believed that an MMA could punch with a boxer (partially thanks to Tyson Fury). The way in which Joshua won as well really helped. I feel a bit bad for Ngannou because he's a likeable guy (much more than Joshua) and I doubt he anticipated this fight going like way but this was ultimately necessary for boxing.

When he stepped into the ring on Friday, Anthony Joshua looked totally focussed on getting the job done and doing a number on Ngannou - which he did, in spades.

During the fight AJ looked mean and dangerous. There was an intensity in his eyes and his facial expression that was quite unmistakable. I've seen almost all of AJ's fights but I'd never seen him look like that until his fight with Ngannou.

This is the AJ that I want to see in his future fights, and it's the AJ that he needs to be in the ring if he's ever going to capture a World Heavyweight title again.
