Ezzard Charles was the number 2 contender for the middleweight title.Charles had 30 fights at middleweight.

IDK WTF a "hsitorian" is, but I remember a discussion between Bert Sugar & Al Trautwig on the original Classic Sports Network (before ESPN acquired it) & Sugar referred to LaMotta as "really a LHW pulled down."
