Ducking/not fighting Aj in their prime harms both their legacy

Fury put everything on Wilder, but his wins have aged like warm milk. Beating usyk was his last chance at being a true great. Imo Fury might have had the talent, but he has too many bad nights and not enough great wins

Beating wlad away and stopping Wilder are his signature wins, but only wlad was truly great and he was pretty old with 60 plus pro fights

The Ngannou fight was embarrassing. Of course he got in better shape for usyk, but he did arguably lose to a novice making his debut. It's pathetic

I would love to see one of these heavies trying to hang with aspinall, francis or jones in a cage.

They would all be emasculated very easily, like Joshua did to Frank

I think the Wilder wins were exceptional at the time. If anything, it hurts AJs legacy more for not going for undisputed when he had the chance because he was chasing A-side advantage (unlike Usyk who just took it at all cost).

    At the time? Kind of
However, Wilder not beating anyone great and getting beat up by parker and zhang casts a shadow imo

Usyk is the only one that comes out looking great. Maybe parker, Dubois or Agit have a say?

I think Fury threw away what could have been a truly great career. Ironically had he fought to his potential it would also elevate usyk beating him more

Nobody doubts Fury is very good on song, but how good? Wilder is limited, whyte was chinny and wlad old. He only has chisora and a couple of others.

Fury spent too much time fighting soft touches and sometimes struggling with these guys. Had he beaten usyk even once? We wouldn't be having this conversation

Fury had 3 fights against great opposition and he's 1-2.

Joshua is also 1-2 vs great opponents

Whether his haters want to admit it or not AJ redeemed boxing by a ton that night.

i have said it before and i will say it again: Sugar is an average trainer at best.

When Sugar was asked whether Usyk will be the best fighter Fury has faced, he responded by saying Usyk is just another fighter. How absurd.

He really did. I'm also an MMA fan and I thought the Fury fight proved the belief that since Francis had to date more or less brushed off 4oz glove hits along with kicks and elbows, that he'd never be KOd by someone wearing 10oz gloves. But AJ did prove that there are levels when dealing with the power of a true HW Boxing power puncher.

It depends on your definition of novice. What level was Ngannou fighting at in Cameroon or France? ' there is no record of him at amateur or pro level before Fury. It sounds like he did a bit of training and was then convinced to turn his hand to mma. Where boxing is concerned unless you count training and sparring then he was a novice when he stepped in with Fury.

I think most people have forgotten about this fight already. Tbf to Fury, Ngannou wasn’t just some mma goon. He’s been training in boxing for about 15 years and he’s sparred hundreds of rounds against world level operators like Takam and Yoka.

When it comes to control and wizardry, Fury couldn’t train for an unknown opponent in Ngannou and still won.

AJ vs Ngannou was a more considerable and concerning boxing contest for boxing fans, the two best heavyweight strikers from both sports.

If AJ lost, every combat fighting fan would have questioned the quality of boxing.

Fury really chose the absolute worst tactic to take on Francis. Trying to outmuscle and bully the 270+ lbs granite built MMA fighter who was used to heavy grappling, was never going to work.

AJ just trusted the power in his hands and as soon he saw the first opening in Ngannou's guard he threw a bomb and that was that.

If Ngannou beat Fury you would have never seen Ngannou in a boxing ring again.

No one seems to understand the importance of Ngannou and his danger regarding boxing.

Dana White sent Ngannou in as an assassin hoping he’d destroy boxing, it’s pretty clear.

And we would have had endless topics on how Ngannou would have killed Foreman in the ring by being a 270 pounds monster....
